Rockford Reformed Church
Sermon Series - The Christian Family

Paul calls marriage a profound mystery. Throughout the Bible both marriage and family are seen as foundational for healthy life and healthy society. Through godly marriages and families, God's relationship with us is mirrored, godly character is formed, and our faith is passed on to the next generation. In this series, we will look at the purpose and covenant of marriage. We will explore the relationships between husbands and wives, parents and children, and even employers and employees. This is a series about love and relationships, the very heart of our Christian faith and our lives in Christ.

Journey to the Cross
 - BEGINS TODAY

March 27 - April 14 in the upper level of the gym.  To observe Lent, our Journey to the Cross Prayer Walk will be available to individuals, families, and groups. You are invited to walk through 7 interactive, self-guided stations designed to help you reflect upon the suffering and sacrifice of Jesus' death so that you might experience the grace and love of God more profoundly during this Lenten season. Availability coincides with weekly office hours (8:30am-4:30pm) and evening/weekend programming when building is open. Some times may be quieter than others. For guidance on group or quiet times, call the office at 616-866-2308.

CPR/AED Class
 - SIGN UP BY THIS THURSDAY

Saturday, May 20, 8:00am. Rockford Reformed Church recognizes the value of prepared members in an emergency. We are sponsoring a class (free to those who attend RRC) that will result in earning an American Heart Association Heart Saver CPR card and also equip you in the basics of First Aid. There are new standards from the American Heart Association, so those who took this class two years ago will be given preferential placement in this class to update their training. This class is taught by a Rockford Ambulance educator. Class size is limited to 12 people. We need a minimum of 8.

8:00am until approximately 3:30pm in the Fellowship Hall (times may be adjusted by a half hour). Lunch provided. If you have a favorite beverage, bring it along. Wear comfortable clothing for bending and kneeling. Sign up in the lobby or contact Wilma Nelson 616-690-4479 before March 30, 2017.

Closing Night
 - THIS WEDNESDAY

Parents, please join us for a special program to close out the year! We start with pizza in the gym at 6pm, then all groups (preschool - 5th grade) meet in the sanctuary at 6:30 for our program.

Wednesday, April 12, 6:30pm in the gym. Hot dogs and chips available for dinner. Everyone is invited to join us for an evening of races, prizes, food, and fun!

April 9 - Palm Sunday (8:45 & 11:00am)
April 13 - Maundy Thursday Communion Service (7:00pm)
April 14 - Rockford Area Community Good Friday Service (7:00pm at Bella Vista Church, 5100 Belding Road)
April 16 - Easter Sunday (8:45 & 11:00am)

Sunday, April 9, both services. All kids (3 years - 5th grade) have been invited to wave palm branches and help portray a part of the Bible story from John 12:12-15 during a song at both services. This is not a requirement, but it would be so nice to have a large group of kids to make an impact on our congregation for Palm Sunday.

If your child would like to participate, please have them meet Mrs. Jennings in the fellowship hall at 8:40am. After they wave the palms, they will be dismissed to children's worship or back to parents to sit through the service. We would ask them to join us again at the beginning of second service in the fellowship hall. Kids can be picked up downstairs after they are done. You could then return to service or leave.

Saturday, April 15, 9:30am. Join us for a morning of family fun! Our annual Easter Egg Hunt is on Saturday, April 15. The egg hunt will begin at 9:30am on the front lawn. All kids infant through 5th grade are invited to participate! Bring your friends! Immediately following the egg hunt, there will be a family pancake breakfast in the gym. Suggested donation for breakfast: $3 for adults, $2 for children, $10 family max.
