Darlene has always been very involved with the St. Charles Community. She has worn many hats over the years including; volunteering for various parade and festival committees, member of the St. Charles Kiwanis Club, Membership Director at the St. Charles Chamber of Commerce and Fundraising Coordinator at the Lazarus House. Anyone would agree that Darlene Riebe has done an excellent job of leaving her mark here in the St. Charles Community, and for that we honored her and her achievements at the 95th Charlemagne Awards Dinner last February 3, 2017.

Women's Business Council
My introduction to the Chamber was in 1989 when a client brought me as her guest to a Women's Business Council luncheon. I was immediately impressed by the number of women attending and how many of them owned and ran their own businesses. There was a sense of being in the presence of women who understood their power but used it to reach out and lift other women up. These women were a force to be reckoned with but supported each other, the Chamber and the Community. I felt proud to be among them and made many close friendships that continue today. Through my years at the Chamber I remained a staunch believer and supporter of the WBC and its amazing members.
In 2012, I accepted a position which took me out of town during the workweek for over two and a half years. Upon the completion of that contract, I resumed my accounting practice in St. Charles. One of the first actions I took was to join the Chamber and get back to the WBC. I knew that would be the fast track to reestablish my presence in the community. Only one thing has changed. The WBC was formed to support women during a decade when there were fewer women in the workforce. Now the WBC is not just for women anymore and men have joined our group as well.
I am a firm proponent of Chamber membership and I know that the WBC is comprised of some of the most dynamic business leaders in the local economy. I am proud to be a member of both.

The ribbon cutting not only included food and refreshments for everyone, but for all the energetic dogs that were so excited to be there! This location is perfect because it's near neighborhoods like Fox Creek and Fox Mill who are filled with dog loving families!

Scammers Posing as City Employees Target St. Charles Businesses
St. Charles
, Ill.
(Oct. 12, 2017) - The City's Utility Billing Division has been alerted to a possible scam involving individuals posing as City Employees and requesting payment in exchange for services, then offering a reimbursement plan.
A local business owner was recently approached at his business by an individual claiming to be a representative of the City. The individual offered to replace all lights in the building with LEDs for $25,000 up front. The individual then claimed that the City would reimburse the business for the cost through a payment plan, and that the business could save money on their utility bills by taking this offer.
Please be aware that this is a scam, as the City does not have any type of reimbursement plans for businesses that switch over to LEDs, and City employees would not demand payment up front for any service.
Additionally, City employees are required to wear City-branded uniforms and carry employee identification badges. If you have any doubts about an individual claiming to be a representative of the City, please ask to see their identification.
