Below is your monthly update on the latest CASA news and upcoming events.

In addition to marking your calendar for trainings and workshops, please plan to join us from 9-11 AM tomorrow, Dec. 2, for our 2017 Volunteer Appreciation Event at 418 South Weber Street. Come for breakfast, activities, and tours of the new CASA space. We are looking forward to seeing you!

UPCOMING CASA TRAININGS & EVENTS 
 

DEC. 7: Life Long Links Workshop    
 
If you're an Advocate who hasn't yet attended the Life Long Links workshop - this is your last chance to do so in 2017! Please join us at the new CASA office from 5:30 - 8:30 PM on Dec. 7 to gain skills and knowledge about creating lifelong connections for your CASA child. The hands-on workshop will show you how to get started with the family search and engagement work required on all CASA cases. RSVP to Katherine

DEC 9: Helping Children Thrive Class

This free class will be offered on Saturday, Dec. 9 from 9 AM - 12 PM at the new CASA building and will feature research on SPARKS (nurturing children's interests) and Development Assets (resources children can use as they grow). It will also draw upon Matthew Kelly's advice for becoming the best version of yourself; The 5 Love Languages for Children by Gary Chapman, PhD and Ross Campbell, MD; and Zimmy's Guide to All Kids Need A-Z by Zimmy Zimberg. You'll receive resources to help children thrive, whether they are struggling or doing okay; and whether they're your children or grandchildren, neighbors, friends, or children in out-of-home placement. DEC 12-22: Santa's Shop Opening Soon
 
Santa's Shop will be opening soon, so please plan on stopping in to pick up great presents for your CASA kids! The shop will be open 8 AM - 4 PM at the CASA office on weekdays from Dec. 12-19; open from 8 - 11 AM on Dec. 20, open from 8 AM - 4 PM on Dec. 21, and open 8 - 11 AM on Dec. 22. No need to schedule a time to shop... Just come on in!

Volunteers may take 1 outfit, 1 toy/game, 1 stuffed animal, 1 book, and 1 pair of pajamas per child. Please contact the youth's caregiver for colors, sizes, and likes of each child before coming in to pick out items. As a reminder, the gifts are to be given to the child's caregiver and they will give them to the kids - the kids are NOT to receive the presents from their CASA. We hope to see all of you there!
