Santa Claus is coming to town
Ho! Ho! Ho! Santa is on his way to town. The local town parade, that is! Catch the following parades and train trips, taking place during December, and get a glimpse of Santa himself:

WHITBY
Wizard of Oz
Follow the yellow brick road to the Whitby Centennial Building's theatre for a "laugh out loud" pantomime performance. Join in and be a part of the Diversified Theatre's fantastic musical adventure and presentation of the Wizard of Oz. A pantomime, or panto, traditionally performed around Christmas time, is a theatrical performance accompanied by slapstick comedy, jokes and music, and is loosely based on a classic fairy-tale or other story. It's entertainment the whole family will enjoy. Performances take place December 27 to 31, with multiple show times throughout the day. Visit

OSHAWA
Ka-chow! Lightning McQueen comes to Oshawa
The
Canadian Automotive Museum has opened their doors to welcome none other than Disney Pixar's Lightning McQueen. This iconic main character from Pixar's famous "Cars" animated film franchise will be on display in the main gallery of the museum from
December 1, 2017 to November 30, 2018. Exciting kids programming is planned throughout the year, in combination with the display, including exciting activities during Family Day, March Break and the summer.

The Nutcracker
The Nutcracker Ballet is an annual tradition for so many families at this time of year. Why not take in a performance of this family favourite at the Oshawa Little Theatre? Prima Ballet School brings this traditional ballet to the residents of Durham Region, with three performances from
December 16 to 17. Tickets are available through the school's website at

In the Spirit of the Holidays
On
December 16, join the Ontario Philharmonic for "In the Spirit of the Holidays: Dvorak visits Tchaikovsky for Christmas," as they evoke the "spirit within" through the masterful works of Tchaikovsky and Dvorak. The Durham Youth Orchestra players are welcomed to the stage for this special holiday program. The performance takes place at the UOIT Regent Theatre. Tickets are available through Ontario Philharmonic's website at

The Ontario Philharmonic was founded in Durham Region in 1957, and during its 60-year history has evolved into one of the most exciting and respected orchestras in Ontario and Canada. Led by one of Canada's most distinguished conductors, Marco Parisotto, the orchestra is comprised of players that are among the Greater Toronto Area's finest professional musicians. The orchestra's programs reflect a wide variety of musical styles, from Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Modern to light classical, pop, jazz and world music.

Skate Canada
Mark your calendar for the 2018 Skate Canada Synchronized Skating Championships taking place
February 23 to 25, 2018 at the Tribute Communities Centre in Oshawa. Skaters from across Canada will compete for team national titles in the senior, junior, open, intermediate and novice categories. The top two senior teams will represent Canada at the 2018 ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships. This is a great opportunity to see one of the sport's most exciting disciplines, which was last in Oshawa in 2009. Tickets are now available through the
Tribute Communities Centre website at tributecommunitiescentre.ca, and make a great holiday gift!
