Zone 5 Horsemen of the Year Honored

Zone 5 honored Diane Carney and the late Arthur "Thom" Brede  with the Zone 5 Horseman of the Year Contemporary and Posthumous Awards, respectively,  during The National Horse Show in Lexington, Kentucky, November 3. 

Selected by the Zone 5 Committee for their dedication and incredible contribution of time, knowledge, financial commitment and other support, Diane and Thom have both been instrumental in making our sport better. We are so thankful for their contributions and the impact they have had on the Hunter/Jumper sport.

Kiersten Pratt Wins Horsemanship Quiz Challenge Nationals, Presented by The Plaid Horse

Congratulations to Kiersten Pratt,  Shannon Bauer, Kylie Cohen, Rebecca Hopkins and Shelby Swann, who attended the Horsemanship Quiz Challenge Nationals, presented by The Plaid Horse, November 10-12 at the George M Humphrey Equestrian Center at Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio. 
 
Kiersten Pratt took home top honors at Nationals!  This was her third time competing in the national competition. In addition to her win overall, she also earned the high score on the written exam.

"It feels pretty incredible," said Pratt after receiving the gold. "All the studying hours...it is nice to be recognized for all of the hours you put in; to finally win it is pretty amazing."

Zone 5 Members Participate in Emerging Athletes Program National Training Session
Congratulation to Zone 5 members Bella Canzano, Kelby Kane and Natalie Radosevich, who participated in the Emerging Athletes Program National Training Session Nov. 9-12 at Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio! 

Participants learned from Olympian Peter Wylde, Anne Thornbury and several other clinicians and speakers. On the final day, Bella Canzano and Kelby Kane were part of the silver medal team in the Nations Cup competition.

Natalie Radosevich was a stable manager for the gold medal team and was named one of the Outstanding Stable Managers, and she was invited to attend the George H. Morris Horsemastership Training Session as a stable manager.

The USHJA is  pleased to announce discounts for USHJA members to Stable Secretary, which recently became a supporting sponsor of the USHJA Trainer Certification Program, presented by Markel Insurance.
 
Stable Secretary organizes equine information and records in one easy-to-use online system. Their mobile app is available for iPhone and Android, and their online software can be used on any computer, laptop or tablet with Internet access.  
  • USHJA Certified Trainers receive a 50 percent discount on their Stable Secretary subscription (at any level) for the first year of use and a 25 percent discount on the second year of use
