From The head of school
Academic Progress for All Grades
Dear Académie Lafayette Families,
I am pleased to inform you that we have received our MAP scores and our school continues to do very well. Our school:
- Ranks #1 out of 479 school districts in Missouri, according to SchoolDigger.
- MAP scores surpassed all surrounding high-performing suburban school districts and KC charter schools in English, Math, and Science.
- Increased its Annual Performance Report (APR) 14% in 4 years from 86.6% to 98.8%. The APR is used to show how well a school is doing in meeting the Missouri School Improvement Program standards.
- Click here to see how AL compares with KC charter schools, suburban school districts, and AL's APR growth.
Thank you for your help in achieving these high standards by helping your children succeed. And many thanks to our teachers who put in such long hours teaching and preparing our students not only for these type of tests but for the world.
Finally, thank you for your support on #Giving Tuesday.
Thanks to you, our families, we raised more than $7,000 to support our
Annual Fund. If you did not get a chance to make a difference by supporting our Annual Fund, please click
here.
Thank you again for your strong support of our school.

From The oak Principal
A Message for the Oak Campus:
Bonjour Families,
We are very excited that the Oak secure entrance is almost done! We appreciate your patience with the changes in pick-up and drop-off procedures this summer and fall.
We need to ask for your patience for a little longer.
We are continuing the current drop-off and pick-up procedures while the interior systems are completed. Please continue to drop-off and pick-up your students on 69
th
Terrace instead of using the parking lot. We will let you know with an all-call, the newsletter, and social media when the new systems for drop-off and pick-up are in place.
Please continue to be careful in driving around our school. Our students are invaluable and we need to do everything to keep them safe.
Leslie Houfaidi
Oak Campus Principal

Minor Construction Near Cherry
During the week of
December 4, please be prepared for some minor construction work in the driveway of Trinity United Methodist Church, our neighbor on the south side of the
building. While they will place barriers and fencing around the work site, we still encourage families to avoid this area as you walk from the church parking lot into the building. Safety is always our highest priority. Thank you for your patience and flexibility.

Sibling Applications: Don't Wait!
We are now asking for all parents who have an incoming Kindergarten sibling next year to apply for your children. As you already have a
SchoolMint account, this process will take you less than one minute! We are asking that you do this as soon as possible.
While there is time and the application window does not close until
March 2, it is very difficult for us to be clear with new families on entry rates if we have no idea how many siblings we have. To be fair and transparent with all new families we like to be able to tell them how many seats we have available and how many seats will be taken by siblings.
When people wait until just before the deadline date to fill out the application, it throws off our projections and makes clear communication near impossible. If you have questions p
lease call Diane Balagna at
816-888-7400
.
Please help us and apply for your Kindergartener now. Thank you for all that you do and we can't wait to see your little ones here next year!

Robotics: More Than Just Robots
Our three Oak FLL Robotics teams competed in Lee's Summit on November 18. While none of them moved on to the championship round, the She-Nerds H2O team
brought home an award for project research. All teams were also nominated for several awards, setting a new record for our robotics program.
The students were judged on three parts: the Robot Game, the Project linked to that year's theme (Hydrodynamics), and the
Core Values.
Thank you to the parent volunteers that have coached since August and spent their
Saturday surrounded by 40 robotics teams! You are appreciated. Our 30 students will now learn to program until Spring Break.
Registration, dates, and information about next year's robotics program will be announced in the newsletter at a later time.
