November 4, 2017

We are just back from the fall Quilt Market in Houston, Texas, where, for those of us in the quilting business, we gather to explore what's new in the industry. We were on the hunt for new products for the Studio which we hope you'll like as much as we do.
At the RJR booth at Quilt Market with two of my quilts.

Our trip to Market was a brief respite from the preparations for our annual shop hop, Quilters' Quest coming up next week. In addition to information on the Quest, read on to learn about my brand new quilts and fabrics plus some final words on our Moroccan Mystery quilt.
Introducing Miyako
While traveling in Japan, I visited Kyoto. My new collection, Miyako, the ancient name for Kyoto, was inspired by traditional Japanese designs of botanicals and intricate geometrics.

This 39-piece collection features six border prints along with large florals and soft blenders.  I've divided the collection into four colorways and made them available in fat quarter bundles.

Miyako Quilt in Three Colorways

The Miyako quilt features a striking star block with jewel-like border print centers and a secondary star pattern created when the blocks are joined. The quilt is made with both templates and foundation piecing techniques and is available in two sizes, wall and queen.

Traditional Christmas Tree Skirt with New Fabrics

When designing my new Miyako collection, I made sure to create a border print which could be used for holiday decorating. My Christmas Tree Skirt pattern has been around for many years but I have brought it back with all new fabrics.

The tree skirt is deceptively quick to make with large triangles of fussy-cut Miyako border print.

The Christmas Tree Skirt kits are currently on sale but hurry before this special introductory price goes away in just a few days.

Lights, Camera, Action! Quilters' Quest 2017 is Almost Here!

We are busy bees here at the Studio preparing to receive the many quilters who will visit us during the 10 days of the Quest running from November 9th through the 18th.  See how each shop transports you into a famous movie so you can experience the magic of Hollywood.

The Quest features specially designed fabric, free patterns, fabulous prizes and lots of fun throughout the 10 participating shops over the course of 10 days. Finish the Quest by visiting all the shops and you'll get a free tote plus a reward card which entitles you to receive a 15% discount on regularly priced merchandise throughout the coming year.

Our Quest quilt, Third Rock, uses many of the six-inch squares "Questers" can pick up at each shop plus we have a bonus quilt you can make from the leftover squares.

We also have a few spaces left on our buses for those who would like to leave the driving to someone else.

Row by Row

We had a wonderful time over the summer with all who visited the Studio as part of the Row by Row Experience. We received many calls and emails about our "row" from those of you who couldn't get in to pick one up. The waiting period is now over.

Our Homeward Bound row is available in kits and pattern-only options. It can be used both horizontally or vertically to get just the right setting for your quilt, table runner or banner.

Moroccan Mystery

In the days following the release of the final clue of our mystery quilt, we received more than six dozen pictures of completed quilt tops. Accompanying many of them were lovely notes of thanks letting us know how much you enjoyed this project over the past months.

For many of you, it was your first hand-piecing project and there were new techniques which you attacked with enthusiasm. As a teacher and life-long hand-piecer, I can't tell you what your messages meant to me. I was so happy to hear about all the new skills you've acquired and that so many of you discovered the enjoyment and peace which can be found when creating a quilt by hand.

Thank you so much for joining us these past months.  If you missed a clue or think you missed your chance to make this quilt, it's not so. The download link below will give you access to all the clues and videos we've shared so far.  Don't wait though. Moroccan Mystery free downloads will only be available until January 31, 2018.
