I love me some good turkey gravy. I’m not kidding – I could lap that up all day long if given the opportunity and I wouldn’t have the inevitable litterbox “issues” that go along with drinking gravy like water. Thanksgiving is the holiday that I look forward to most all year, because the gravy is plentiful. I would work on my “Thanksgiving eyes” all year long, just like Puss ‘n Boots in Shrek (you know you all said “aaaaawwww” when he made his special eyes in that movie). If it worked for Puss ‘n Boots, I felt it could work for me too. Gravy…mmm…
But this year something very strange happened. As I was being stuffed into my flying suitcase (I don’t know how it works, but I start out in Orlando and after a brief nap, I end up in Chicago!), I found myself thinking not about gravy, but about something else…
Actually – 141 someONE elses. The 141 kitties who have been adopted from the Orlando Cat Café since we opened just over 1 year ago. 141 kitties who maybe spent last year in a shelter (or worse), but are enjoying their very first holiday with their forever families. It brought a tear to my eye and a lump to my throat (which to be honest, I was concerned was going to interfere with the gravy).
Kitties like Mulberry – a fan favorite at the Orlando Cat Café and my BFFF (Best Feline Friend Forever), who this year is with her Forever Family enjoying herself as she overlooks Cinderella’s Castle from her kitty tree! Here is a picture with her new sister Kiki. And kitties like Ferrari (whose new name is Goober), pictured here with his most favorite family member in his new forever home. And Yosef, who looks really, really, really happy in his new home (this picture might have been taken just after the Thanksgiving gravy meal…).
