Worcester Detachment Celebrates
242nd Marine Corps Birthday
Commandants Message
A s we enter the final month of 2017 it is time to reflect on the past year and plan to move forward in the next. I personally would like to thank Frank Peepas for three years of service as our Commandant.
I would also like to thank all our officers who decided to stay on and look forward to working with each and everyone. I would like to let everyone know we as a detachment are going through some changes. With any change of leadership there will be some growing pains I hope to make them as easy as possible. I look forward to serving all of the members and associates to the best of my abilities.

 Semper Fidelis,
Jack Schuster
Commandant

Toys for Tots:
Boxes will be distributed to the collection sites beginning Friday Nov. 24th. If anyone would like a box for their workplace etc. they should contact Joe George (508) 864-8249. We only ask that if they take a box they also assume the responsibility to return the box and the toys to the detachment no later than Monday Dec. 18th. This will allow us time to sort out the toys and get them distributed to the families before Christmas.

Bucket Brigade:
This will take place Sat. Dec. 2nd from 10am to 2pm. (rain date Sat. Dec. 9th.)
Marine uniform. Red nylon jacket and Marine Corps cover. If the person has no uniform a MC sweatshirt or anything identify them as a Marine or Associate is desirable.

We will have two collection sites. One in Auburn, at the intersections outside the Auburn Mall. Ideally we need 12 volunteers for this location. The second site in Worcester is the intersection of Park Ave & Chandler St. Ideally we need a minimum of 8 volunteers for this site. Please meet at the MCL no later than 9:30

"Sponsor A Child"
This is the activity that we work with Worcester Housing Authority "Transitional Housing Program" Historically we've had about 27 children.

We are in the process of getting the first name, age, gender and clothing size of the children involved in the program this year. Typically we ask sponsors the focus on winter coats & school clothing, shoes and boots for these kids.
Once we get the donations down to the league we supplement the clothing bags with toys for the children.

Please contact Joe George for any additional information.

Millions more vets to be able to shop at exchanges online
Honorably discharged veterans could be able to shop online at military exchange websites as early as Veterans Day, barring any objections from Congress.
The change in Defense Department policy would open up online exchange shopping privileges to about 18 million more people. It won’t apply to shopping at brick-and-mortar exchange stores.
