Legislative Agenda 2018

With the next legislative session almost upon us, the Morgantown Area Chamber of Commerce is preparing our legislative platform. The Board of Directors recently approved a new policy to assist Chamber members in advancing their issues and gaining the support of the Chamber. Below you will find the steps one should take in order to have their legislative idea endorsed by the Chamber:
  1. We are seeking input from our members on legislative issues important to them through this survey (Click here);
  2. Any issue submitted on the survey will be reviewed by the VP of Governmental Affairs (GA);
  3. An issue not submitted on the survey can be submitted directly to the VP of GA;
  4. The VP of GA will review the issue and will consult with the member submitting the issue and suggest a course of action;
  5. The issue or draft legislation, as established above, will be presented to the GA committee for review, suggestions, amendment, etc.;
  6. If accepted by the GA committee, the issue will be returned to the member for development of draft legislation or if already in draft legislation form, will be sent to the entire membership for comment;
  7. The GA committee will review the draft legislation and comments for recommendation to the Board;
  8. The Board will approve or deny the proposed bill for inclusion on the Chamber Legislative platform and if approved, promote passage of the proposed bill.
All legislative issues and ideas are to be presented to the VP of GA, Eldon Callen via email eldonc@morgantownchamber.org.
