LAUGH YOUR WORRIES AWAY
|
Laughter is the Best Medicine!
Laughter is contagious and has a powerful and immediate effect on our mind, body, and spirit.
This interactive
Laughter Yoga workshop will demonstrate that you do not need humor or comedy to laugh. Thankfully, the body receives the same physical and emotional benefits from simulated and real laughter. Together, we will use laughter as exercise combined with yoga breathing. Playful movements along with eye contact may turn simulated laughter into real laughter.
Benefits you will receive include:
· Increase blood flow and oxygen in your body
· Enhance uplifting endorphin levels and can reduce
pain
· Stimulate the immune, digestive, and cardiac systems
· Help reduce stress levels
· Stretch and help relax tight muscles
· Have fun!
Come ready to move and laugh (all exercises can be adapted to various physical abilities). We will laugh, clap, move, and breathe. All exercises will be done standing or sitting. No prior yoga experience required and no yoga mats needed. Wear regular clothes as long as you can move and breathe easily. We will end with a meditation to center ourselves after the laughter.
Over the last 30 years, Linda Shively has become a happiness and joy expert. She has studied everything she can get her hands on in the subject of psychology, overcoming adversity, and personal development. She has a psychobiology degree from UCLA, and she coaches and leads events and workshops helping participants to find happiness and joy.
When: Monday, January 8, 6:00-7:30
Where: 50 California Street; 10th floor

Setting the Table for Civility
Holiday gatherings can often be stressful as friends and family bring differing views to the table. TTNer
Anna Yang has discovered a site that she thought would be of interest to our membership.
"I heard on the radio about a great resource for being able to talk with people who have differing opinions during the holidays. There is a handout with what questions to ask, etc. I was really impressed that this exists! Sooooo needed."

Rewarding, very part-time opportunity
Stacey Palevsky works for Engage As You Age.
Since 2008, they have provided homebound and isolated seniors with social interaction, conversation and education in an effort to slow the progression of dementia and improve quality of life.
Engage is looking to hire a few good smart and compassionate people to work with several new clients in SF and the Peninsula. They have an immediate opening to work with an elderly man in Foster City. In this instance, visits will be weekly on Tuesdays for two hours at a time, so not a huge time commitment. This makes a great match for freelancers, consultants and artists because the schedule is so flexible and fits easily among other commitments.
