This Week at BayMarin, December 3, 2017
Year-end Giving

We could not exist apart from your generosity. We are thrilled to get to be a part of what God is doing in the world. From our regular gatherings on Sunday mornings, our faith community gatherings in homes, our Student and Children's Ministries, our fire relief efforts, our Outreach Partners - this is all made possible because of your generosity. Please consider helping us continue the work God has called us to by donating  here

Hanging of the Greens

This Sunday, our annual hanging of the greens will take place following the service. Please stay after the service and help us put up Christmas decorations.

Christmas Gifts NEEDED

BayMarin has partnered with  Iglesia Cristiana, a bilingual church in Petaluma, this Christmas as many of their church members lost their homes in the wildfires and they need our help to make sure each person receives a gift this Christmas.

Please sign up on Sunday to purchase a gift for a child or adult. A table will be in the back. Gifts should be unwrapped and have a value of $10 or more. Please then bring your unwrapped gift(s) to church on the 10th or 17th or make other arrangements with Ashley.

Or you can purchase a gift on Amazon
and it will ship directly to Ashley who is organizing this project. Super easy!

Lastly, please
SHARE the amazon link with your friends, family, Facebook world, etc. as we'd like to fill their need of 98 gifts!

BayMarin Christmas Bazaar: Coming Soon!

Join us after each service on  December 10th and 17th  and make a difference by shopping at each of our outreach partner's tables. This is a great time for you to start or finish your gift list by supporting Be2Live, Plant with Purpose, Creative Interfaces and Gilead House.

Warmly Inviting All Women

Friday 15 December
at the home of Cachy Brister
6:30-8:30pm

Cachy will prepare a big pot of soup. Bring a side of bread or salad or dessert if you are able. Please RSVP to Cachy or (415) 459-0478. See you at the table!

Come to a time and place for gathering together over a simple meal, and to dive deep with one another over real stories and Christ centered conversations. It's bound to be a time for a whole lot of laughter - and maybe a few tears - and surely time well-spent that leaves us with glad, full, and grateful hearts.

Upcoming BayMarin Table dates: January 7, February 9
Advent 2017

During Advent this year we will jump into another mini-series in our 3 Years with Jesus series. For this mini-series we will focus on the birth and early life of Jesus in Matthew 1 & 2. Join us as we explore the hardships Mary and Joseph felt and the longing and hope that found its fulfillment in the birth of Jesus. We will explore the importance of the incarnation, the hope of Christ and the challenge to live into the incarnation each day.

You can see our 3 Years with Jesus schedule here and listen to podcasts here.

Creative Interfaces Christmas Open House

One of our Outreach Partners, Creative Interfaces, will hold their annual open house on the evening of December 16 from 7-9pm. Come and experience their home and ministry in a relaxed setting - 1637 5th St. San Rafael.

Farewell to Paul & Vicki Gray

As many of you know, Paul and Vicki Gray are moving to SC in early 2018. We will be honoring them and will communally engage in our traditional Litany of Farewell on Sunday, December 17.
Beauty from Ashes: A Special Christmas Service

In a season where we have seen much heartache - fires, hurricanes, shootings, earthquakes - we feel it is important to come together as a community and recognize Christmas as not only a time for joy but the reality of lament and sorrow as well - both personally and globally. This service will focus on the gift of Jesus as the King of Sorrows from the manger to the cross. We will look at how Christmas is not only a time of joy but also invites a posture of longing and hope for our heartache to be met by the King of Sorrows who invites us to weep with those who weep and rejoice with those who rejoice. We will see how "the hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight." Join us for this special service on the evening of December 17 at 6pm at BayMarin.

Christmas Eve

Join us for our Christmas Eve service on December 24 at 5pm. We are excited for the amazing and beautiful music we have planned and the opportunity to focus on the hope we have in the incarnation - Emmanuel - God with us! (Please note: there will be no morning service on Sunday, December 24)

3 Years with Jesus

We are excited to share with you a vision for our community for the next three years to journey through the gospels together; exploring the life of Jesus and what it looks like for us to live in union with Christ and embracing the way of life Jesus has invited us into. We're calling it "3 Years with Jesus." The texts we will explore are based off of a Children's Curriculum that runs for three years. Our Student Ministries will be exploring these same texts and our Children's Ministry will engage these texts as well for a few months to see if it will align well with what they are hoping to accomplish. It is our hope that this will not just be a Sunday morning experience but will infiltrate our lives in the day to day activities of life - from reflecting on these texts alone throughout the day to conversing about them as friends, families and communities doing life together. The "teacher guide" for Year one of the curriculum I mentioned above can be found  here.

If you are a parent of children up through the 5 th  grade, we encourage you to purchase this book and engage these lessons together with your children. Whether you have young children or not, we encourage you to read the weekly gospel text together regularly throughout the week and talk about what God is saying to each of you, ask questions, and dig deep into these stories and teachings of Jesus and ask questions in your families and friendships on how it is shaping and forming you personally and in your different regular activities throughout the week. We will be writing weekly discussion questions that can be used in faith communities and families alike. We are thrilled to be on this journey together!

Prayer Requests

At BayMarin, prayer is a vital part of community life. We have three different teams of people who pray for the prayer requests that are submitted. Please share your prayer request with us  here.
Faith Community Opportunities

Our Faith Communities are our small groups - where church really happens as people live life together on a regular basis. We are looking for folks who would be willing to help lead and or host a Faith Community. If you are interested in learning more or joining a Faith Community, please contact Bryan.
Sunday Morning Prayer

We hope you will join us for Sunday morning prayer at 9:30am in the balcony of the auditorium.
