The Friends of the Concord Free Public Library's (CFPL) Holiday Book Sale  will take place December 1st - 3rd at the Main Library. There is a great selection of books for all ages. Please support the Friends of CFPL by shopping at this festive annual event.
All community members are invited to attend one of two technology focus groups scheduled for Tuesday, December 5th from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at the Fowler Branch Library or Saturday, December 9th from 2:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m at the Main Library. Both sessions will be led by consultant Jennifer Koerber and ideas contributed will help shape future library services.
Please mark your calendars for the next program in Mapping the Road to Town Meeting: A Collaborative Citizen Education Series. Session two, entitled "How It Works and How To Work It: Advocacy and Public Hearings", will take place at the Harvey Wheeler Community Center (1276 Main Street, Concord) on Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 7:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. This three part series is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Concord-Carlisle, the Town of Concord, MA, and the Concord Free Public Library.

As part of the Concord Free Public Library's technology planning, we invite community members to participate in one of two focus groups led by consultant Jennifer Koerber. She will facilitate conversation about current library technology needs, and anticipated needs over the next 3-5 years. Koerber will also lead a creative brainstorming session to help uncover some untapped opportunities. Please register to participate in the focus groups. All are welcome.

The Art of Resistance: Painting by Candlelight in Mao's China

Author Shelley Drake Hawks will discuss her book, The Art of Resistance: Painting by Candlelight in Mao's China. The book follows the lives of seven painters during China's Cultural Revolution, a time when they were considered counter-revolutionary and forbidden to paint. Drawing on interviews with the artists and their families and on materials collected during her visits to China, Hawks examines their painting styles, political outlooks, and life experiences. Shelley Drake Hawks teaches art history and world history at Middlesex Community College in Massachusetts. The event is free and open to all. [Register] |
