Sparkle Sandy Springs Kicks off the Holiday Season - Don't Miss This Special Event
The entertainment lawn at Heritage Sandy Springs is getting a very special holiday makeover this year as we debut a month-long event - Sparkle Sandy Springs! Local schools, artists and businesses each received a 7-foot tall wooden house to paint in festive, whimsical themes. The houses, as well as the surrounding lawn area, will be adorned with lights to create a magical,
walkable light display. The display is free and open to the public through December 31st. Don't miss the opening event! Bundle up the family and head over to Heritage Sandy Springs on Sunday, December 3, 2017, from 5-8 p.m. Parking will be available at the Sandy Springs United Methodist Church, lower level.
New Hours for Keep North Fulton Beautiful's Recycling Center
The Sandy Springs Recycling Center has new hours, and will no longer be open around the clock for drop-offs. The center has installed gates that will be locked after operating hours. Please note the new hours:
Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat: 9AM-5PM
Tues & Thurs: 7AM-7PM
Closed Sundays and major holidays.

Coffee with a Cop
Don't wait for an emergency situation to get to know the men and women who work 24/7 to keep the City safe. Every month the Sandy Springs Police Department hosts, "Coffee with a Cop," an opportunity to meet our police officers. The next Coffee with a Cop is scheduled for Friday, December 22 from 8 - 10 a.m. at Cafe Vendome located at 4969 Roswell Road.
Optimist Club and SSFR's Breakfast with Santa and Toy Drive
The North Perimeter Optimist Club is holding its 25 th annual Breakfast with Santa Claus, on December 16, from 9-11 a.m. at the Dorothy Benson Center, located on Mt Vernon Woods Drive. Santa and his helpers will be serving breakfast to children, ages 1-12 years of age. The Sandy Springs Fire Department will also be in attendance, trucks included. Residents are encouraged to drop off gifts at any of the four fire stations locations between 9:00am-5:pm Monday thru Friday.
Digital Photography Contest
There's no shortage of photo opps in Sandy Springs and the Sandy Springs Conservancy is inviting the community to capture our beautiful city in their Digital Photo Contest. Categories include: natural beauty and family fun at the Cty's parks, greenspaces and trails. Free to enter and the closing date is December 16, 2017.

Holiday Hoops
Mark your calendar for this year's Holiday Hoops Basketball Skill Challenge! The event is for middle school boys and girls grades 6th - 8th and features a 2-on-2 round robin tournament, free-throw and 3-point shooting contest.  Friday, December 1, 2017 - Check-in at 5:30 p.m. Competition begins at 6 p.m. at Sandy Springs Middle School 8750 Pride Place.
Winter Break Camp and Parents Night Out
Parents can enjoy a night out and their children can learn gymnastics on Friday December 8, 2017 from 6-10 p.m. at the Sandy Springs Gymnastics Center. The cost is $20 per child for more details visit the Recreation department's registration page. And there is still space available for Winter Break Camp!
Gymnastics Showcase and Gymnastics Tumbling Clinic
Every Fall Gymnastics participant is invited to the annual Gymnastics Showcase to show off what they've learned. This year's event will be Sunday, December 10, 2017 at North Springs Charter High School. The Gymnastics Tumbling Clinic for boys and girls ages 5-18 will be held at the Sandy Springs Gymnastics Center on Saturday, December 16, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. ages 5-7 and 2-5 p.m. ages 8 +

Save the Date!!!
Daddy Daughter Dance
Mark your calendar for one of the year's biggest date nights! The 9th annual Daddy Daughter Dance is scheduled for  Saturday, February 3, 2018 from 6-8 p.m.with registration beginning November 6, 2017. The event will be held at Spalding Drive Elementary School. The cost is $35/father-daughter and includes a keepsake photo; $10 each additional daughter.

City Council Meeting – 12/19

A resolution to adopt the City Center Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) 5-year update.
A resolution to adopt the Roswell Road Corridor LCI 5-year update.
Since the adoption of the Development Code in August, Staff has been closely working with the community to identify errors, provisions difficult to interpret and requirements in need of adjustment. Staff will propose a major update to the Code to address these issues, expected to go before Planning Commission in January and Mayor and Council in February. Stay tuned for more details.
