ALL THE GEAR AND NO IDEA!
Hi Guys
The weather here in my part of the world has been very hot and the fishing also has been on fire. It must have been the hottest spring in years.
I have been out guiding and teaching in sleeveless shirts and shorts most days.
In some areas the cicadas are singing away and soon they will be a regular food source for trout down this way.
Willow grubs have also started to fall and a few trout have already been landed on the little banana fly design.
The small green Manuka beetles are also out and about.
In the evening the small clear winged mayfly spinners have been flying up from the Mataura river and landing on my truck.
Recently a group of awesome NZ fly fishing guides got together and yes paid me to help them with there casting and teaching abilities.
So we organized a NZ fly fishing school for the day mainly focused on there own personal fly casting skills.
I was a bit nervous at first as they were all known guides. Though that soon disappeared and we all had fun and all learned a thing or two.
The feed back was awesome and they all said they had learned so much with a few saying it was the best thing they had ever done in fly fishing.
To be asked by these humble NZ guides was a huge humbling honour for me.
