heard from the HALL
Our 8 th graders put together a Thanksgiving video this past week, asking students what they are thankful for, as well as some factual questions about the First Thanksgiving. The following exchange took place in that video, between and 8 th grader and one of our VERY cute first graders.

8 th Grade student : “What is the name of the ship that the Pilgrims sailed to America on?”
1st Grade Student (with excitement and enthusiasm) : “The Titanic!”

NURSE CORNER:
While it is a common myth that has been passed from table to table, the tryptophan in turkey is not fully responsible for the Thanksgiving Day food coma. Although tryptophan does aid in the production of serotonin in the body which helps with sleep, it needs to be taken on an empty stomach. The real culprit is the amount of food that people eat during this yearly feast. The processing and digestion of all that food takes away blood from other parts of your body, including the brain, which causes people to feel tired and drowsy.
Happy Thanksgiving!
