November 29, 2017
Dear St. Francis of Assisi Parents and Guardians,
I hope you and your family had a great Thanksgiving break! Thanksgiving is one of my favorite celebrations because of its simplicity. Despite the commercialization of many holidays, the focus of Thanksgiving remains on point - sharing a meal with family and friends and giving thanks to God for our many blessings. As I get older, I realize how fortunate I am to have so many blessings. Here are a few things I enjoy about St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School:
I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the school community. St. Francis of Assisi School has been one of the most rewarding and enriching experiences of my career.
I am grateful for our community. I am reminded every day that we are the hands and feet of Christ tending to God's garden.
I am grateful for our students. They are the reason I do my job. I get to shape the future every day I go to work. They remind me of what is beautiful about God's creation.
I am grateful for our faculty and staff. They are the reason for our success. Their dedication and passion inspires our students (and me) to be the best they can be. They change student's lives by guiding, challenging, and inspiring them.
I am grateful for our parents. Thank you for entrusting us with your children and for partnering with us to provide a bright future.
I am grateful for our Pastors. Thank you for leading us on our spiritual journey, for reminding us about our true purpose as students, parents, and educators.
I am grateful for our volunteers. Thank you for your generous gift of time, talent, and treasure. Your support contributes to a healthy and vibrant community.
I am grateful for everyone who approaches life with an attitude of gratitude. A smile and positive attitude go a long way to make everyday a great day at SFA!
I am grateful for the simple things that grace my day at school: a warm greeting, joyful learning, laughter, lunch with students and staff, faculty prayer services, a thank you.
May the blessings of Thanksgiving be with you always. As we enter the new Church Year, let us purposely move towards the hope that comes from the great celebration of Jesus' birth.

A WOLF News Press Corps Report by Student Journalist, Izzy W.
On August 25, 2017, the first day Hurricane Harvey hit, devastation flooded Texas. Houses, buildings, and schools were hit with rain and wind from the category 5 hurricane. Harvey dropped 52 inches of rain in the Houston area causing catastrophic flooding and killing more than 70 people. The forecast looked bleak. Civilian rescuers and first responders were a ray of light in the storm. Read more about the heroic efforts of everyday people in the full article here.

Be a Classroom Treasurer! |
Plans for the 20th annual auction, Charting the Course, are underway. In the past we have asked each class to create a Class Project that would then be auctioned off to the highest bidder. This year we have chosen to introduce "Classroom Treasures". Each classroom will put together a beautifully themed basket to be auctioned off at our Gala event. We need your help to create these beautiful themed baskets. If you have always wanted to volunteer and the thought of creating a "project" intimidated you, this is the perfect class role for you. We have plenty of classrooms still looking to help steer our "treasured baskets" into the right direction.
Please reach out to your child's teacher or go to your teacher's
signup.com home page to volunteer for this fun role.
Please reach out to Tawna Khamo at [email protected] for additional questions or to join.
