#Out4MentalHealth

People living with HIV experience mental illness at significantly higher rates than the general population.

The rate of co-occurring mental illnesses in people with HIV was so high that "having a single mental health diagnosis was the exception rather than the rule."

Specifically, people living with HIV have: 2 to 5 times higher rates of depression, up to 4 times higher rates of depression among women with HIV than women who do not have HIV, and higher rates of anxiety.

People with HIV are as much as 20 times more likely to have experienced trauma than the general population

The source material for these findings can be found here in the SAMHSA report.
LGBTQ-inclusive history coming to CA schools

On November 10, the California Board of Education approved the first set of textbooks that feature LGBTQ-inclusive history and social science curriculum required by the FAIR Education Act. After months of advocacy from the FAIR Coalition, the Board approved only those text books that include LGBTQ content. We'd like to send s special shout out to Our Family Coalition for their outstanding leadership!
