Our Mission:
Supporting lifelong faith formation in the home and congregation.

From the President's Desk

Dear friends,

For most of my childhood, my mother was a single mom working and going to school full-time. Babysitters were a luxury, so we went where she went. One of my most vivid memories is sitting on the floor reading or coloring while she gathered with other women for Bible Study, fellowship, food and prayer. Each monthly gathering ended with prayer and the singing of...

He leadeth me, he leadeth me,
by his own hand he leadeth me.
His faithful foll'wer I would be,
for by his hand he leadeth me.

It wasn't a complicated program. It didn't cost a lot. It was simply a group of faithful women who, once a girl was confirmed, would pick her up to join in the Circle. The faith was passed on from one generation to another through daily life. To this day, every time I sing that chorus, I think of those faithful women who lived out their faith and shaped me for who I am today.

Last month The Reverend Brenda Smith, Program Director ELCA Faith and Book of Faith, asked:
How are you growing in your faith as a result of being in this faith community?

As we near the end of the year, take a few moments to reflect. Who taught you the faith? Who taught you to pray? To read Scriptures? To worship?

And, if you are looking for a Christmas gift, why not give a gift to the Christian Education Network of the ELCA in their honor or memory? Visit faithfulteaching.org and download a card that you can print and share.

May your Advent be filled with quiet times of prayer and reflection,

Pastor Juli Lejman-Guy, President

Resources

Self-Care

Christmas is noted to be the most wonderful time of the year and the happiest season of all. Still, for many of us, it is also the most stressful time of the year. In her blog, Dawn Rusinko gives some great tips to de-stress.

Technology for Ministry

Bible Study

In 2018, most congregations will use the Gospel of Mark. Our ministry partners at Book of Faith have a collection of  resources. These resources were originally created for the 2015 ELCA Youth Gathering and include two PowerPoint presentations and two supporting documents. The story-by-story art panels, historical factoids, thoughtful questions, and literary insights (help sheets) offer guidance for a unique journey through the story line of Mark's Gospel.

Andrew, Apostle

Almighty God, you gave your apostle Andrew the grace to obey the call of your Son and to bring his brother to Jesus. Give us also, who are called by your holy word, grace to follow Jesus without delay and to bring into his presence those who are near to us, for he lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
