Here's what's new on the Nobles County 4-H website this month!
December Cloverbuds "Santa's Workshop"

The December Cloverbud Meeting is also known as Santa's Workshop. This event takes place on Sunday, December 10th from 1-3 PM in the Farmers Room (basement of the Government Center). The Door Code to get into the building is 873060. Cost $5. RSVP here.


2018 Fundraiser Planning Meeting

On Tuesday, December 12th at 6:30 PM, in the 4-H Office Conference Room, (Door Code will be 873060) we will have a Fundraising Committee Meeting. Ideally we will have 1-2 representatives from each Club at this meeting (youth are also invited). The purpose of this meeting will be to discuss the upcoming Fundraiser which typically happens the end of January- Mid February. Please RSVP by December 11th.

2018 Nobles County Fair Dates

The Dates for the 2018 Fair has been set! The dates of the 2018 Nobles County Fair are August 1-5th- please mark your 4-H calendars as this date is NOT on your calendar! Click Read More for additional tentative dates you may want to be aware of for fair preparation.

2017 Project Expo

The 2nd annual Project Expo will be held on Thursday December 28th from 9 AM-2 PM at the Regional Extension Office. Please note the DATE CHANGE. Click Read More for more information regarding this day!


Engineer It! Challenge Workshop

Come to the December Engineer It! Challenge Workshop! At this workshop, you will be challenged by learning more about the six simple machines, creating machines, learning more about the Rube Goldberg machine and the Rube Goldberg Challenge offered by the Minnesota 4-H Program. This a FREE event will be held Wednesday, December 27th from 9 AM-12 PM in the Farmers Room. This will be for 3rd-8th graders! A snack will be provided for participants! RSVP by Wednesday, December 20th.

Thanks for Volunteering with Nobles County 4-H! I am trying to organize everyone's strengths in which they might be interested in helping out at! We couldn't function well with out great volunteers like you! Please note: If you select an area doesn't mean you HAVE to say yes when asked! I look forward to working with you in this new 4-H year! January Advisory Board & Federation Meeting

The January Advisory Board meeting will take place on TUESDAY, January 16th at 6 PM in the Farmers Room. Elected Federation Officers and Advisory Board Members will be looking at the Federation ByLaws. At the January Federation Meeting, which will take place on TUESDAY, January 16th at 7 PM in the Farmers Room, we will be discussing various topics in which are very important to the Nobles County 4-H program. As a reminder, the door code for all 4-H events is 873060.

2018 Andrea Ruesch Scholarship applications are now being accepted
This scholarship is for high school seniors and first-year college students currently enrolled in 4-H. Applicants must be from one of the following nine counties: Chippewa, Cottonwood, Jackson, Martin, Murray, Nobles, Pipestone, Rock or Watonwan.
 
SW 4-H Summer Camp will be held June 18-22, 2018. We are looking for camp counselors in grades 9 and up to help lead camp. Applications are being accepted now through January 17.
 
An exciting day is being planned for all 4-H screened adult volunteers to network with fellow volunteers while gaining new ideas for working with clubs and youth. It will be held Saturday, February 24th from 9:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. at SMSU in Marshall. 

Associate dean and state 4-H director Dorothy Freeman shares a story about 12 year old Mela. Because of generous 4-H volunteers, Mela has grown into a confident leader.
 
2018 project bowl information is now available! Form a team and participate in one of the four regional Minnesota 4-H Project Bowls across the state. Check out the website for rules, resources and more to get your team started!
 
High school students pursuing engineering as a post-secondary option - check out this giant list of scholarships, curated by the American Society for Engineering Education.
 
Connecting with new 4-H families is an important part of enrollment. Club and project leaders are reminded they can use 4HOnline to obtain updated member lists and contact information. User guides and video tutorials are available.
 
The 2018 Southwest Animal Science Challenge will be held on Saturday, Feb. 17, in Wabasso, Minnesota. This event will include horse and livestock project bowl competitions, hands-on skill-a-thon stations, and workshops on a variety of topics. 4-H'ers can attend as a project bowl team, or as an individual.
 
Minnesota 4-H youth in grades 9-13 are invited to strengthen their communication, leadership, and citizenship skills at a national level by attending Citizenship Washington Focus in Washington D.C. from June 23-30, 2018. Registration will open Feb. 1, and close when all spaces have been filled, or by Feb. 28, whichever comes first.
 
The 2017-18 Clovermart winter sale is still open! We are accepting orders until Jan. 5. Clovermart is the place to find all of your Minnesota 4-H apparel and merchandise for everyone in the family.
 
Register now for the BLU leadership workshops for youth in 6th grade on up! Five BLUs will be held at locations across the state - registration deadlines vary by location. This is a great opportunity to gain leadership skills and meet other youth from the area!
