HCIA 2017 AGM - It's all about community!
The HCIA AGM was a celebration of our partners and projects!

The event was held October 12th at the Monora Park Pavilion.

Attendees were among the first to see the NEW Volunteer Dufferin Website. The team at Fireside Agency presented the enhanced web-based platform that matches volunteers with a broad range of opportunities in Dufferin County. The site has a fresh mobile-friendly look, tons of new features and FREE listings for organizations and opportunities!

MPP Sylvia Jones welcomed everyone to the event and our guest speaker, Bruce Blears inspired us with his experience as a big brother matched through Big Brothers & Big Sisters in Dufferin

The evening's culinary delights were be prepared by Rasmi and Islam Al Hariri. The Al Hariri family arrived in Orangeville via a refugee camp in Jordan the summer of 2016. You may have seen Rasmi, Islam at the Orangeville Farmers Market and sampled their traditional Syrian cuisine.

HCIA and Volunteer Dufferin would like to thank all of our partners, supporters and cheerleaders. It's all about community!

DC MOVES Better Together
The DC MOVES (Dufferin County – Managing, Organizing, Validating, Engagement Strategies) initiative continues to build momentum as a support for greater human services integration and collaboration.

We are excited to announce the launch of our upgraded and mobile friendly website - dcmoves.org and our spiffy new logo and tagline.

Carol Good is wrapping up her contract as the first DC MOVES Coordinator in December and Elaine Capes is joining in December as the incoming DC MOVES Coordinator. We would like to wish Carol all the best with her new adventures and welcome Elaine to the team!

The planning for 2018 is already well underway. It will be another exciting year that will include a Community Poverty Reduction Summit (January 17) and the next DC MOVES Forum (January 31).
Farm to School - Final Report Card is Due
Do you think local food literacy is an important life skill? Is farm to school education important to you?

The popular Farm to School programs from Headwaters Food and Farming Alliance are undergoing a formal evaluation and the team is asking for your input to keep the programs community-driven. The final intake for stakeholder surveys closes on December 22nd. Please take a moment to add your voice for the future of Farm to School in Headwaters.
HatsOnDufferin
After an immensely successful inaugural campaign, HatsOnDufferin has completed delivery of all 2900 hats.

Each school has received their bin of 100 hats, and will distribute to those students in need of a warm hat this winter. The 10-month long journey from empty bins to hats-of-plenty has concluded for 2017.

HatsOnDufferin will continue collecting hats and yarn at all their drop-off locations across the County and plans to launch the 2018 campaign in January. Building off the successes of the 2017 campaign, HatsOnDufferin will continue to crochet away ensuring no one is left without a hat to keep warm through winter. See you in 2018!
