December 2, 2017

Let us help you with quick handmade gifts for the holidays.
In turning my calendar to December each year, I'm always surprised at how November flies by here at the Studio. We have just finished the 10-day Quilters' Quest, welcoming more than 800 quilters to the Studio from more than 32 states and even four foreign countries. I was able to greet almost all of the Studio's visitors from my post by the door. Even though we are all exhausted by the end, it is a fun experience for us.

Now, suddenly, we are in the midst of the holiday season. As quilters, we welcome the excitement of making something to give to others and the tradition of gift giving. In this month's newsletter, we have some gift ideas for you from handmade to unique items along with new projects to work on during the cold winter months.

May this wonderful time of the year remind us of our many blessings and be a season filled with peace and joy.
Third Rock in Beautiful Batiks
Many of you have seen our quilt from Quilters' Quest, Third Rock, and have asked if there is a kit or pattern. While my Quest quilt was made with more than 50-6" squares from each shop, I also designed the quilt in my batik fabrics just for those of you who couldn't participate in the Quest.

Third Rock comes in two colorways and our kits have everything you need for the top and binding. While it looks very complex, it is actually quite easy to sew. The quilt is made with all straight line sewing, even though it has the illusion of curves. The kit also includes full size foundations printed on tissue paper.

New Miyako Table Runner

The Japanese-inspired Miyako fabrics give an elegant touch to this table runner with its distinctive stars and fussy-cut border prints.

The Miyako table runner comes in three colorways to blend with just about any table setting or decor.

Weekly Web Special Alert

Every now and then in our newsletter we like to give you a "heads up" as to what we have available for you at a special price in our popular Weekly Web Specials.

This week's special is the Diamond Double kit, a quilt made with my Malam batiks. Using a simple block design, the quilt goes together fast.

Next week, watch for the Fabriflair Vase (pictured above in the opening) which was a big hit during our shop hop. It can be stitched together in a jiffy.

You can check out the current web special here.

Gifts to Give

  • POWPOW neck warmer - This is a great gift for the outdoor enthusiasts in your life but I find that the added warmth to my neck really helps to soothe those aching muscles throughout the day whether I'm indoors or out.
  • Architects' 5-1 pen - It is not just a pen; it is also a stylus for your touch screen devices, a level, screwdriver (both regular and Phillips head) and a ruler.
  • Gary White Cutting Boards - Gary, a master craftsman in Oklahoma, uses maple, ash, oak, cherry, walnut and other woods, and inlays in his work creating unbelievably detailed accent designs. His cutting boards, in two sizes make fabulous gifts.
  • Holiday Tree Batik Bundles - What quilting buddy wouldn't want to receive this bundle of batiks! Each "tree" contains four shaded batik fat quarters. Read our blog to learn how to make your own holiday trees.

Gifts to Get

  • Aurifil Thread Box - This is my favorite brand for hand and machine stitching. I've put together three boxed thread collections in colors that are perfect for the majority of your sewing needs.
  • Quilters Select Rulers - Each ruler has a unique non-slip coating that makes for more accurate cutting. They have been so popular we have trouble keeping them in stock!
And, of course, you can never go wrong with a Studio Gift Certificate!
