To prevent acne scars, do not pop, squeeze or pick at acne.
Avoid touching your face or propping your cheek or chin on your hands. Not only can you spread bacteria, you can also irritate the already inflamed facial skin. Never pick or pop pimples with your fingers, as it can lead to infection and scarring.
Seek treatment early for acne that does not respond to over-the-counter medications.
Gently wash face and other affected areas twice a day.
Whether or not you have
acne, it's important to wash your face twice daily to remove impurities, dead
skin cells, and extra oil from your skin's surface. Vigorous washing and scrubbing can irritate your skin and make acne worse. Always rinse well, and then dry your face with a clean towel. (Toss the towel in the laundry hamper, as dirty towels spread bacteria.) Also, use the washcloth only once.
Shampoo hair often, daily if it is oily.
Oily hair can add to the oil on your face, so wash your hair often, especially if you're breaking out. Got long hair? Keep it pulled away from your face.
Use oil-free cosmetics and sunscreens.
The sun's ultraviolet rays can increase
inflammation and redness, and can cause post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (dark discoloration). Some acne
medications may make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. Limit your time in the sun, especially between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Cancellation Policy
The providers at Vail | Aspen | Breckenridge Dermatology strive to see all our patients in the most timely and convenient manner possible. As a courtesy, we attempt to contact every patient at least 24 to 48 hours prior to their scheduled appointment to remind them of the date and time. However, it is the responsibility of the patient to arrive for their appointment on time. If you are unable to keep your appointment, we ask that you call our office at least 24 hours in advance so that we may offer this time to another patient in need of care. We currently have a lengthy waiting list for both new and established patients.
For patients that do not contact us prior to missing their cosmetic appointment (at least 24 hours in advance) will be regarded as "no show" and a charge of $75 will be assessed. For appointments less than $75, patients will be charged the full treatment price.
