Physicians must embrace the business side of medicine
WH
Davis Liu, MD asserts in a KevinMD post dated November 26, 2017 that the "issue lies in the false dichotomy...often create<d> by asking whether physicians or business people should ultimately be responsible for hospital care."

WIM
"A complete answer would be the importance of physicians leaders embracing both medical and business perspectives," states Dr. Liu.
Humana's wellness program features a small but committed group of wearables users
WH
A Nov. 21, 2017 Annals of Internal Medicine post describes research done on 'wearables' and other smart devices that monitor activity outside the doctor's office. Fierce Healthcare writer Evan Sweeney, in an 11/22/17 online article, does an excellent summation of the journal article, the full text of which is guarded by a paywall.

WIM
Adoption rates remain very low, but the future looks bright for wearables. Wellness programs deploy wearables and, via precision medicine, can deliver targeted interventions, ultimately bending the cost curve.
After House Vote on Taxes, Spotlight Shifts to Undecided Senators
WH
Thomas Kaplan reports for The New York Times on Nov. 20, 2017 that the "fast-moving Republican effort to overhaul the tax code now rests in the hands of a small number of fence-sitting senators with disparate concerns, like how small businesses are taxed and whether health insurance costs will spike after the repeal of the Affordable Care Act's requirement to have coverage or pay a penalty."

WIM
"Lawmakers face a challenge in navigating those competing priorities without rankling other members or running afoul of budget rules," according to Mr. Ka plan. "For instance, dropping the repeal of the individual mandate from the bill would mollify the concerns of some but could alienate others who wish to see it included, while also upending the delicate fiscal math behind the Republican plan."
