The Girl Scout Difference

Girl Scouts takes the potential of girls, combines it with robust  s kill-building programming, and adds caring adult mentors and strong female role models. Everything a Girl Scout does centers around STEM, the outdoors, development of life skills, and entrepreneurship, and is designed to meet her where she is now and to grow along with her.

Out & About with Daisies & Brownies
Connect and learn about troops in our council!

Daisies and Brownies have had an amazing fall season - from campouts to service projects to enjoying the changing season to honoring our veterans and everythng in between!

Girl Scout Brownie Troop 2231 from Chillicothe, MO worked on Flag Etiquette with some
very special guests: 2 Soldiers from Army National Guard came to visit. Girls learned what the colors stand for, how to properly fold the flag, and what the flag means to the soldiers. They also had a GS dad join their meeting who served 4 years in the Marines and talked briefly about his experience.

Sharing THANKS with Others! Girl Scout Daisy Troop 1952 from Kansas City, KS made 11 Thanksgiving donation baskets to give to families in need. The baskets included their creative appreciation as well as all the fixings for a wonderful meal.

Season of Giving

Giving Tuesday
Her Vest. Her Story. Giving Tuesday is coming on Nov. 28 and YOU can help her fill her vest. A Girl Scout vest says a lot about a girl and in many ways, it's her very first resume.

 - Her badges represent accomplishments.

 - Her troop number represents her Girl Scout family.

 - Her council patch represents her community.

 - Her flag patch represents her nation.

Together, they tell a powerful story of growing into a G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader).

Your Giving Tuesday investment has double the power this, thanks to Sylvia Wagner and E. R. Pullman, who have offered a dollar for dollar match for Giving Tuesday gifts. Will you consider investing in the future? Gifts of any size have double the power for change. Give, share and help her tell her story! www.gsksmo.org/givingtuesday

Did You Know?

Boy Scouts of America officially announced its plan to bring girls into its organization beginning in 2018. Girls and boys are not the same. Research is clear that girls need a place where they can feel success, work to overcome challenges and do that with other girls. Girl Scouts has been here for all girls for 105 years. We have proven success. We love being the place where girls can grow as leaders today and into the future!

"Girl Scouts works, and we have the research to prove it. The experience produces leaders and even buffers girls in the difficult middle-school years."
Girl Scouts of the USA CEO Sylvia Acevedo
