UC San Diego will honor World AIDS Day from Monday, November 27, 2017 through Friday, December 1, 2017, to focus attention on and raise awareness about the impact that HIV/AIDS has had and continues to have in the San Diego community, the nation, and the world. Please try to wear red on Friday, December 1st in support of the event.

Point Foundation Scholarship
The Point Community College Program inspires LGBTQ community college students to fulfill their ambitions of attending a four-year college or university.
Students accepted into the program will receive up to a $3,700 tuition scholarship, admissions counseling, coaching and financial education at the Point Community College Transfer Symposium in Los Angeles, and access to the Point Foundation network of LGBTQ scholars, more than 300 alumni, and many others dedicated to seeing LGBTQ students succeed. Conference is a queer college conference for Latinx/Chicanx/Indigenous/PoC, with a focus on people who self-identify with the Latin/South/Central American diaspora or Brown or Indigenous. People of all genders and sexualities are welcome to apply to attend Saturday's events. Friday's opening is free and open to all.
Anyone who applies by December 1 will be given priority seating! Attendance will be capped at 150 people.

Coming Out Group Tuesdays, 4:00-5:30PM Small Meeting Room | Women's Center The Coming Out group is a place to meet and gain support while discussing your sexual and/or gender Identities in a confidential setting. This group is for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, straight, or questioning folks who are coming out, considering coming out or may already be out. Topics are determined by group participants and can include stress, fear, anxiety, loneliness, family/cultural issues, excitement and celebration with regard to coming out. The legacy of this self-described "Black, feminist, lesbian, poet, and warrior" has much to teach us about living in this moment in time. We invite you to join us as we celebrate the life and work of Audre Lorde. The free screening of "A Litany for Survival: The Life and Work of Audre Lorde" is open to the San Diego community and will be followed by a brief film discussion and open mic. We invite everyone in attendance to share their original works, read their favorite works by Lorde or simple share their reflections on Audre Lorde. Refreshments will be served.

Access and Control of Indigenous Heritage: When the 'Object' of Repatriation is Song
Speaker: Dr. Robin R. R. Gray

The repatriation of Indigenous cultural heritage is not limited to the reburial of human remains or the return of totem poles and masks, for example. It can also include the repatriation of intangible cultural heritage such as songs and oral histories from archives. In this talk Dr. Robin Graywill discuss the efforts of Ts'msyen from Lax Kw'alaams, BC, Canada to reclaim a collection of songs from the Laura Boulton Collection of Traditional and Liturgical Music. How the community responds to histories of capture, what it takes to repatriate intangible cultural heritage from archives, and the legality of Ts'msyen songs will also be points of discussion.

Care at SARC Peer Educator Application
We have extended our deadline! Join our team as a valuable CARE Peer Educator! Applications are now due November 26, 2017 before midnight.
Help educate others and change campus culture. Topics covered in our program include healthy relationships, understanding consent, and bystander intervention. You'll leave the CARE Peer Education Program having strengthened your leadership and public speaking skills.
Applicants must commit to attending an orientation retreat on Saturday, January 27, 2018, as well as our weekly Tuesday meetings from 11:00am- 12:30pm.

Oasis Drop in Services
The Office of Academic Support and Instructional Services offers math and science workshops to students led by a tutor who explains course concepts and encourages a collaborative learning environment. Current programs include MATH3C Study tables, located at Center Hall 375, Mon-Fri (10am-4pm). Drop in writing tutoring is also offered, where tutor and student will review writing prompts, brainstorm ideas and read papers for clarity and structure. In this informal, open forum, Dr. Roberto Luna from Counseling and Psychological Services will discuss topics that come with being the first in your family to attend college. Dr. Luna will also cover strategies and tips that students can apply to overcome challenges that face students who are "firsts."
