Committee Sign-Up

SN-ICC has several committees for 2017 that do the work of the association.  They include EduCode, Public Outreach, Communications and Membership.  To get further details and to volunteer your time, go to the SN-ICC website by clicking here. Gentille Speaks at November Chapter

SN-ICC member Mike Gentille, PCNA Group, presented a program entitled "Significant Changes to the ICC A117.1-2017 Standard for Accessible and Usable Buildings and Facilities" at the November Chapter meeting.
SAFTSE Presents Seminar in November
Jim Erickson of SAFTSE presented a seminar on getting event planners and jurisdictions on the same page when planning special events.

Ellis Named EduCode Coordinator
Alan Ellis
After a several month search, the SN-ICC Board has voted to hire the current EduCode Coordinator on a yearlyt basis.
 
Al Ellis, who has chaired the EduCode Committee and coordinated several of the best EducOde programs in its history, was the unanimous choice of the Board. Ellis is a past president of the Chapter and has served as a volunteer leader for many years.
Las Vegas Names McOsker Building and Safety Director.

The city of Las Vegas has named Kevin McOsker Building and Safety Director.
Kevin, who also serves as SN-ICC Treasurer, served as interim director prior to the appointment. He is a certified building official and licensed professional engineer. He has more than 25 years' experience in the field, and has been involved in local building code development since the adoption of the 2000 International Building Code. He served on the International Code Council General Building Code Development Committee in 2015, and was recently appointed to the International Code Council's International Residential Code Committee.
December Chapter Meeting to Feature Election of Board and Year-End Wrap-up
 
The December 14 Chapter meeting will feature the nomination and election of the 2018 Board of Directors. President Majid Pakniat will also present the Year-Emd Wrap-Up.

SN-ICC Scholarship Program Goes Live

The SNICC Scholarships went live with the Clark County Public Education Foundation on October 10, 2017. These programs can be found at: www.thepef.org, or you can contact David Goldstein for these opportunities. We have a variety of construction oriented scholarship programs for students of engineering, architecture or construction management). The following is a brief description:
1) High School Seniors that are attending Nevada based colleges or universities are eligible for a $2,000.00 grant, Four to be awarded.
2) Renewal Program: Those students that were previous recipients of the High School award can apply for secondary scholarships as long as their studies are within the required course curriculum and maintain a qualifying GPA.
3) Advanced Program: those students that are juniors, seniors, or post-grad students attending a Nevada university or college can apply as long as their studies are within the required course curriculum and maintain a qualifying GPA.
