Marianist Library News
For These Blessings, I am Truly Thankful
: Our Marianist Library is all decked out for Thanksgiving as you can see from the photo. On Friday, 11/17, and Monday and Tuesday of next week, 11/20 and 21, we are making paper "Grateful Hearts" and "Thanksgiving Turkeys" available to students coming to the Library so they can jot down what they are most grateful and thankful for in their own lives. Then we'll post their hearts and turkeys in the Library for all to see. And, we'll be offering them a Thanksgiving sweet for their participation and to let them know we are thankful for all of them!
November is Black Catholic Month
: We are also celebrating Black Catholic Month and have posted a display to honor and highlight St. Martin de Porres, the Dominican brother canonized in 1962 by Pope John XXIII. Other black highlighted are: Simon of Cyrene, who helped Christ carry His cross to Calvary; Melchior, the African "Wise Man" who followed the star for the Nativity; and the Church's three African Popes, St. Victor I, St. Miltiades and St. Gelasius.
Public Library Card Drive
: Working with our English classes, we are striving to ensure all of our students are the proud owners of a Public Library Teen Card. This is allow them to access all the public library's wonderful research data bases, download e-books, and download free music.
Teacher Feature
: Our Teacher Feature displays are well under way. As soon as our full staff has their "profiles" posted, we will be sure to share online for all to view.
