Dear St. Serra Parents,

St. Junipero Serra Catholic School  Adopt-A-Family 2017

Under the leadership of Mrs. Kathy Bonin, PTO VP - Outreach and Mrs. Carol Lawson, Adopt-A-Family Program Chair, the St. Junipero Serra's Adopt-A-Family Advent Program is here!  Over the years, our St. Serra community has generously supported the Adopt-A-Family Advent Program through Catholic Charities of Orange County.  Thanks to your generosity this holiday season, our St. Serra community will be able to help provide a better Christmas for over 40 families.

Saint Teresa of Calcutta reminds us "At the end of our lives, we are not judged by how many diplomas we have received, how much money we have made, or how many great things we have done.  We are judged by, 'I was hungry and you gave me something to eat. I was naked and you clothed me. I was homeless and you took me in'".

Each homeroom has been assigned a family with each student being assigned one family member. Please be on the lookout for a special e-mail coming later this evening, from your Room Parent, with your child's assignment.  We are sending this out now to give everyone who wishes to participate the opportunity to shop over the Thanksgiving break. Gifts and gift cards should be brought into the classrooms by Friday, December 8th.  New this year, the Classroom Family Assignments will be attached to the Sunday Parent Email for easy reference when you are out shopping.  Please contact Carol Lawson at [email protected]  with any questions regarding the program.  Thank you in advance for your participation in this service project.

23rd Annual Harvest Festival Results
"The land yields its Harvest; God, our God blesses us."  Psalm 67:6

Our 23rd Annual Harvest Festival was a beautiful, sun-filled day for our St. Serra parents, students, staff and alumni. The committee transformed our school into "The Great American Harvest Fest" overnight with the "student created 50 state chalk art panorama on the black top" and "colorful sunflower and American flag displays" sprinkled across the campus.  There were activities for everyone... from the bungee jump to the petting zoo, the water wars to the surfboard challenge or just sitting back and listening to a live band.  The smiles on the kids coming off the ballistic swings and giant slide were a special treat for many grandparents and alumni in attendance. Our food booths were transformed into the Taste of the Globe, including Feed the Festival parent teams that shared their own recipes for one of a kind dishes!  If that wasn't enough, they introduced a chili cook off and apple pie contest to complete the Taste of America theme!

I am very grateful to PTO VP-Harvest Festival Teacia Andrew, who led our Event Chairs, Sue Deek-Ahmadi and Alexis Weddingfeld and their very dedicated Committee Chairs. Thank you for all  working together seamlessly on this fundraiser.  Also special thanks to our many Underwriters and Donors , as well as all those families that participated in our Grand Prize Raffle, without whom this size of an event would not be possible. I am humbled and pleased to announce that our 23rd annual Harvest Festival, "The Great American Harvest Fest", raised over $55,000 all made possible by the hard work and generosity of our families and surrounding community.

Thank you for your continued support.

And let us consider how to lift up one another, to love and good works
- Hebrews 10:24

God is good all the time...All the time God is good.
