Like NPR and other user-supported media, much of our operations rely on the support of our "local listeners" - you, the reader. In order for the Westville Village Renaissance Alliance to continue providing this valuable community service, we ask you to donate or join WVRA as a Village Person today! Beyond the e-news, WVRA is working every day to make Westville a brighter, safer, more vibrant place to be. WESTVILLE COMMUNITY NURSERY SCHOOL JOINS THE GLOBAL GIVING TUESDAY MOVEMENT!
Westville Community Nursery: Dedicated to Maintaining and Enhancing Nearly 50 Years of Learn-to-Play and Play-to-Learn Preschool for Families of All Ethnic, Religious and Socio-economic Backgrounds.
Westville Community Nursery School (WCNS) has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide-and an initiative recognized and supported by New Haven Mayor Tony Harp. The WCNS #GivingTuesday campaign asks student and alumni families, the greater New Haven community, and generous friends across the state and country to consider donating-in any amount-to our non-profit, non-sectarian school. Specifically, the WCNS #GivingTuesday campaign is geared toward generating community financial support for:
· Maintaining and enhancing our "learning through play" program, which is accredited by the National Associating for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). · Complementing the school's funding of School Readiness tuition to make School Readiness classroom seats as affordable as possible to a families of all socio-economic backgrounds. · Continuous development of our school's "emergent curriculum," whereby children's ideas and interests are the primary guide for our curriculum planning. · Maintaining WCNS as a learning institution for aspiring educators through practicums and other opportunities. · Covering the costs of our recent relocation and our constant efforts to improve our indoor and outdoor facilities.
Occurring this year on November 28, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday to kick off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support. "For nearly fifty years WCNS has been serving the Greater New Haven area's young children by providing a developmentally appropriate curriculum that enhances self-esteem, promotes problem-solving skills, and fosters growth," said Keith Wallman, member of the WCNS Board of Directors. "We'd love community support on GivingTuesday to continue and enhance what we offer to families of all backgrounds."
For more details about the #GivingTuesday movement, visit the GivingTuesday website (www.givingtuesday.org), Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/GivingTuesday). Please consider donating to this wonderful Westville business.
