It's Winter Preparedness Week: Are you ready? 
This week marks the start of Winter Preparedness Week in North Carolina. Now is the time, the National Weather Service says, to prepare for the likelihood of a major winter weather event What follows is its checklist of handy items recommended for home and business owners:      
  • Functioning fire extinguishers and smoke alarms 
  • Working carbon monoxide detector 
  • Emergency heat source, such as a properly ventilated space heater
  • Inspected generator
  • Flash light, with extra batteries
  • First aid supplies

YOUTH TOUR
Deadline: Applications for 2018 trip due Dec. 22
How would you like to take the trip of a lifetime to the nation's capital, all-expense paid?  More than 1,500 high school students from across the United States will gather in Washington D.C. next year for the Electric Cooperative Youth Tour. If you want to be among the chosen ones to participate, get your application ready. The submission deadline is Dec. 22, 2017. Read more. 

TAKE NOTE
Co-op office closings announced
Roanoke Electric Co-op offices will be closing at 4 pm on Dec. 15.  Offices will also be closed Dec. 25-26 for the Christmas holiday.  Normal business operations will resume on Wednesday, Dec. 27. On Friday, Dec. 29 we will be conducting end-of-year procedures. During this time, no payments will be accepted. This includes the phone system, web and payment sites.
We will begin accepting payments on Jan. 2, 2018.
