MLK Center Receives Legacy Grant
Congrats to the MLK Center! As a recipient of a $60,000 Legacy Grant, the MLK Center be able to continue their work in the neighborhood, focusing on strategic planning and economic development.

BTNA MLK 5K
Join the Butler-Tarkington Neighborhood for the first chapter in a new and fun neighborhood event! On Saturday, January 13th, runners will assemble at the MLK Center (40 W. 40th Street) for the first annual MLK 5K. The run will touch all parts of the neighborhood and will take runners by iconic properties like Crown Hill Cemetery, Butler University, and more. Water, hot cocoa, and snacks will be provided following the run.

Kheprw Institute Crowdfunding Campaign
"The Kheprw Institute is excited to launch our new campaign for 'Communities Creating Change: Our Choice, Our Voice," said Imhotep Adisa, executive director of the Kheprw Institute in a statement.
The program seeks to encourage and sustain urban agriculture in the mid-north/northwest area of Indianapolis. The funding raised in this campaign would allow the Kheprw Institute to turn an empty house into the KI Urban Agri-Culture Learning Lab."

Tunnel Project Street Closures
"A DigIndy tunnel project designed to clean up waterways in Indianapolis will close parts of Meridian and 28th Streets from Jan. 2nd to Oct. 31, 2018."

Great Places 2020 Survey
Starting in 2015, residents from the Maple Crossing Community came together to develop a plan as part of the Great Places 2020 Initiative. After several public input sessions, committees were formed in response to the identified needs and were tasked with providing leadership around identified goals. An Education Committee, comprised of community leaders, neighbors, and partners, was tasked with addressing goals which revolve around providing comprehensive education opportunities for all ages.
In order to guide the efforts of the Education Committee, its members are seeking input from community members on the identified goals and areas where the committee should prioritize their work.
