SERVICE

Sunday, November 19, 10:00 AM,  "Gratitude for Indian Generosity," Rev. Sam Trumbore

White European settlers here in America got a lot of help from the native peoples they encountered. Yes there was conflict but there was also an enormous amount of cultural exchange and learning. Some of our most cherished traditions have direct links to the Indians. This service concludes with a litany of gratitude and the enjoyment of corn mini-muffins baked that morning by Rev. Trumbore.

Screening and discussion of "13th"
Saturday, Nov. 18 - 7:30 p.m. - at Albany UU in Channing Hall - the Solidarity Committee of the Capital District continues its 2017-2018 film series with the screening of "13th". This documentary draws upon historic film footage, as well as interviews with activists, scholars, and politicians, to highlight the deliberate criminalization of African Americans and the resulting vast expansion of the U.S. prison population. Among those interviewed are Michelle Alexander, Angela Davis, Van Jones, Henry Lewis Gates, and even Newt Gingrich.

Green Sanctuary suggests:

Sundays, Nov.  19 and 26, Carol Butt will have her wonderful cloth gift bags at the Social Responsibility table for a free-will donation.  Christmas paper cannot be recycled. What's better than an attractive, re-usable wrap? They also make great gifts. Come and see!

And, If you use cloth ribbon for wrapping, it can be used again and again -- even in a  little girl's hair, or give it to Ps and Qs.

Albany UU is recycling the following in the cloakroom:  hearing aid batteries, aluminum tabs from cans, inkjet cartridges, cell phones, Brita detritus, personal care products such as toothpaste tubes and brushes, paper egg cartons, blankets, coats, mittens, hats, corks.  In addition, Deborah Vogel has started recycling tyvek envelopes --  you, know the ones we receive at Silver Bay.  Check out this site for more information - http://mooncatchers.weebly.com/ .
