Today's Announcements  


 
  • Progress Reports will be available on Home Access on Friday, November 17 at noon. Students will also receive a hard copy of their grades in their 2nd block class. If your student does not have a 2nd block class, please have them come to the Counseling Office for a copy. 

 

  •   Due to production of pizza in the cafeteria ice machine area students will no longer be able to get ice from the cafeteria for their personal use. Sorry for the inconvenience. 

  • CALLING ALL RBHS ARTISTS!!!!  IT IS TIME FOR PTSA'S NATIONAL ARTS CONTEST "REFLECTIONS"  
You can win CASH prizes for your entry!  (And what a great thing to add to your resume!!!)  
RBHS had 4 students place at the State Level last year; Kristine Cho 1st for Literature; Ben Rouder 1st for Music; Connor Squellati 3rd for Music and Tracey Singer 5th for Visual Arts!!

Each year, the National PTA Reflections program offers local, regional, state and national opportunities for young artists in PreK through Grade 12 to be recognized for their creativity. We are proud to present our nation's best Reflections in the areas of dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and the visual arts.


  • Still interested in purchasing a yearbook for 2017-2018? You still CAN! Come to room 329 with 45 dollars cash or check! Prices do go up! After 9/16 they go up to $50 through February. Starting 2/24 the books go up to $60. 

  • Senior? Wondering about submitting your senior picture for the yearbook? Senior photos are accepted until December  1st. So bring in your pictures! Your senior photo submission must be 300dpi. If not, your photo may be pixelated  and blurry in the yearbook. Send your photo in portrait orientation.

  • Sending off a senior this year and want to buy an ad in the yearbook? There is still time!!! 
A great way to say goodbye to your senior is to create a senior salute for him or her. You can send in pictures of your senior when he or she was little as well as recent photos! You can include a written message, as well. Seniors may also purchase a salute with friends or with people from sports or clubs! Senior salutes are so important because they offer a special way your senior will remembered in the 2017-18 yearbook. Buy one now, before Wednesday January 10, 2018.

  • There is a raffle for one parking spot on the SOUTH SIDE of the building that will be selected at Sweet Night of Jazz on November 17th.  To buy a ticket for this raffled parking space, please see Mrs. Johnson in the Performing Arts Office.  Tickets are $1 for 1 chance and $5 for 6 chances.  It's a really "Sweet" spot, too! 

Don't miss Sweet Night of Jazz on Friday, Nov 17 at 7pm!   All students and adults  are welcome to come enjoy music, desserts and bid on fabulous auction items to support Rock Bridge Bands! Please buy tickets from Mrs. Johnson in room 402.

  • Attention students:  If you do not have internet access at home, please see your counselor or assistant principal to sign up for CPS Digital Equity Program to get access.

  • Parking permits are $35 for November.  - Any vehicle a student parks at RBHS/CACC must be registered with a parking permit. Please see Darryl Heaton with questions.

Guidance Announcements  
  • SENIORS interested in being nominated for the MSBA FutureBuilders John T. Belcher scholarship must complete the application found on the RBHS --> Counseling --> Scholarship webpage and return it to Mrs. Reed in the counseling office by Monday, Nov. 27th.  Applications will be sent to the Board of Education for review.  The Board will then select one student to apply for the scholarship.  Applicants are judged on the basis of academic performance, extracurricular activities and the quality of an essay. A $1000 annual scholarship is awarded to a student in each of MSBA's 17 regions. A statewide winner is selected from this group of regional winners and awarded an additional $1,500. 

     
     
  • Bruins, BE KIND! Each week I would like to challenge students to complete a step toward making Rock Bridge High the kindest, most compassionate and inclusive school in town! This week the challenge is: do something to support others. IDEA: For National Homeless Awareness Month this November, help me support homeless youth by donating to the Columbia, MO Rainbow House. A bin will be in the Counseling Office in which you can drop off items from their wish list below. Thank YOU -Ms. Thalhuber

     
  • Interested in studying Business in college?  Learn more about what it's really like to be a Business Student at the Univ. of Missouri's Trulaske Leaders Academy.  This free event will give you the chance to interact with current business students and faculty, meet high school students from all over Missouri, and develop new leadership and professional skills in a fun, exciting atmosphere.  The Trulaske Leaders Academy is Friday, Dec. 8th from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m..   • Rainbow House Homeless Youth Program Wish List: Baby Wipes, Dish Scrubbers, Toilet Paper, Paper Towels, Antibacterial Spray Cleaners, 13 gallon trash bags, bottled water, clear storage containers (large with lids), Lysol/Clorox wipes, mop cleaning solution, latex gloves, laundry soap, dish soap, dishwasher tablets/powder, play doh.
     

  • SOPHOMORES interested in being nominated for a full-ride scholarship to a Telluride Association Sophomore Seminar (TASS) in Summer 2018 should see Mrs. Reed in the Counseling Office by Friday, Nov. 17th.  TASS is a free, six-week program for high school sophomores co-sponsored by Cornell University and the University of Michigan.  You can find out more and read about the 2018 seminar topics at https://www.tellurideassociation.org
     
     
    JUNIORS planning on attending an accredited college/university in the US after high school should apply for the Coolidge Scholarship Program.   The Coolidge Scholarship is an annually awarded, full-ride, presidential scholarship that covers a student's tuition, room, board, and expenses for four years of undergraduate study.   • Sophomores - the 2018 Hoby State Leadership Seminar will be held June 15-17, 2018 in Cape Girardeau, MO.  Hoby's State Leadership Seminar empowers high school sophomores to develop their leadership talents to become the leaders of their community. The seminar curriculum is based on the Social Change Model of Leadership and develops leadership from three perspectives: Personal Leadership, Group Leadership, and Leadership for Society.  Interested students should exhibit strong leadership skills/experience, outstanding communication skills, creative problem solving, sensitivity to the needs or concerns of others, courage to speak out for one's beliefs, and participation in community service activities.  If you are interested in being nominated for the 2018 Hoby State Leadership Seminar, please write a short response to the following prompt:  "In 75 to 100 words, please describe the most rewarding and challenging aspect of being a leader in your school and community" and submit your writing to Mrs. Reed in the Counseling Office by Tuesday, November 21, 2017.

RBHS Booster Announcements

The Bruin Booster Club promotes school spirit & provides programs & financial support to the athletic teams & student-athletes of Rock Bridge High School (RBHS).  Since 2003, the Booster Club has raised & allocated a significant amount of funds to benefit the Bruin athletic programs.  Those who purchase a Booster Club membership will receive a pass (or passes) to attend all home athletic contests in all seasons.  All money raised through membership dues stays at RBHS to support our student athletes, plus the pass can be less expensive than purchasing individual game tickets throughout a season.

Join the Rock Bridge High School Bruin Booster Club for our 16th annual For the Love of the Game Dinner and Auction! The proceeds benefit the legacy of Rock Bridge athletics and our 22 athletic teams.
