ANNOUNCEMENTS
LIBRARY BOOKS ARE DUE! December 8 is the due date for books checked out from the main stacks by students on or before Sunday, December 3. Books may be renewed once online or by bringing them in physically to the circulation desk if you have exceeded the renewal limit. The new due date is Jan. 31, the last day of J-term. Click on "Library Account" online , and sign in with your NorseKey to see what you have checked out and when it is due.

Cocoa and Cram: Focus is pairing with Wellness, Health Services, Counseling Services, SASC, and College Ministries Outreach to host a stress-free study night in the Mott/Borlaug Room in the Union from 7:00-10:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 7. There will be free snacks and refreshments, stress-relieving activities, and a quiet study zone. All are invited! 

"Create Community" Workshop for First-Years -- Join other first-year students for a day-and-a-half community building workshop, January 20-21, at Baker Commons. Share your stories, figure out what you want from your Luther experience, and how to make it happen! Modeled on the UWC (SEA) Initiative for Peace and led by Kim Chham and the Luther College Peace Scholars, sponsored by the CEPE. Limited space. Sign up at cepe.luther.edu

College Ministries is holding a Candlelight Nativity Service at 9 p.m. Sunday, December 10, in the Main Hall of the Center for Faith and Life.  
 
Have you eve started your own business? If so, then this amazing, low competition scholarship is for you! The Erdman Prize is awarded to students of ANY MAJOR who have started and managed their own business. There are 3 prizes ranging from $2,500 to $5,000. The Book Shop's 2nd Annual Student's Stress Less Party (Balloon Drop) -- All students receive an A+ during finals week from the Book Shop! Stop in Monday, December 11 from 9 p.m.-10:30 p.m. and pop away your stress with a Balloon Drop filled with promos and fabulous prizes. Games, tasty drinks, photo ops with Santa and Buddy the Elf, and treats will be served. This event is sponsored by the Book Shop, Student Life, and Wellness.
   
Autographed Books -- If you missed Matteo Musso's book signing this past weekend we have signed copies of both of his books available for purchase at the Book Shop.  
 
The Diversity Center will have a Decorah Walmart shopping shuttle running from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 9. This is open to all students and there is no charge, but reservations are requested, please register here. Students should meet in front of the Union. This will be the last Diversity Shopping Shuttle for 2017. The schedule for 2018 has not yet been determined.

Luther's Kwanzaa Celebration is coming up! Join us for chapel Friday, December 8 at 10:30 in the CFL and for the Festival Dinner on Saturday, December 9 from 4-6:30 p.m. in Peace Dining Room. Pre-registration by December 6 is required for the Festival Dinner. Please sign up here

Wednesday, December 6 make plans to attend Christmas in the Union, and stop in the Book Shop. The Luther College Book Shop will be open from  8:45 a.m.-6:30 p.m. for an all-day Christmas Sweater party! Wear your favorite Christmas sweater and receive a treat, sign the naughty or nice list, enjoy in-store promotions, and free popcorn until its gone and a special appearance by Buddy the Elf from 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m.  This event is free and everyone is welcome!

Student Senate will be accepting applications for Diversity Representative of gender and sexuality for the upcoming semester. If you are looking to "be the voice for people of diverse genders and sexualities on campus" this would be perfect for you! Please email a short description of how you can contribute to the betterment of the Luther community and send to Student Senate.

Recreational Services is looking for fitness instructors, intramural officials and at least one outdoor staff member for the month of January. Please stop in to the Recreational Services office, 104 Dahl Centennial Union for more information.

Want to study Peace in Norway this summer? Come to the CEPE Office (F.W. Olin Building, Room 214) on Thursday, December 7, 9:40 a.m. -10:50 a.m. for a drop-in session about the Peace Scholars program. Previous recipients of the Scholarship will be answering questions for interested students, applications are due in January.  
Wondering how to keep track of your sources, create a bibliography and footnotes? Zotero (a free application) helps you collect, manage, and cite your sources with a click of a button. Bring your laptop to our workshop and learn how to download Zotero and set it up to manage your resources (available for PCs and MACs).  Wednesday, December 6 , in Preus Library, Hovde Room.
