This Sunday we hope you join us to celebrate St. Andrew's Day at the 10am service amidst the swirl of bagpipes, followed by delicious shortbread cookies at refreshments after the service.  It is our custom to ask people to wear items of red (or plaid) to celebrate St Andrew's Day.

We are also encouraging you to 'bring a friend to church' on this St. Andrew's Day, so that we can share the gift of our church and community with those who we care about.

As we celebrate St. Andrew, the first of the disciples to be called by Jesus, it is an opportunity for us to reflect on our own call from Jesus. Each of us is called individually to use our time and talent to share Christ's love with our neighbor and the world. The challenge is whether we can hear and respond to that call in the way St. Andrew so readily did, given the clamor and busy-ness of modern day living.

I would also like to remind you that this Sunday is Commitment Sunday, when we ask parishioners to return their financial pledges for 2018. I would like to stress how important it is to return your pledge as soon as possible, so that the Vestry can finalize the budget for next year.

Yours in Christ, Adrian

Bring a Friend to Church on St. Andrew's Day !
We encourage parishioners to invite friends or neighbors to church on St. Andrew's Day, Sunday, November 19 at the 10am service. This will be a wonderful occasion to give your friends a glimpse into the life of our lively parish. We encourage everyone to wear red, and, as is our tradition, a bagpiper will pipe us in and out of the service. It is a perfect way to introduce your friends to St. Andrew's! Share some traditional shortbread at coffee hour after the service.
St. Stephen's Holiday Dinners
In this weekends bulletin, you will find an envelope labeled "Holiday Dinners." This is a collection for our friends at our sister parish, St. Stephen's. Your generous donation will help us create over 60 bags of Thanksgiving meal fixings, including a turkey for each recipient, and Christmas gift boxes for seniors, among other things. Please make checks payable to St. Andrew's, with "Holiday Dinners" in the memo. Many thanks!
Calling All Shortbread Contributors!
There is no better way to join in the Sunday, November 19 celebration than to share some shortbread at coffee hour. Traditional or creative, all are welcome! Please bring your creations (home-made or purchased) to the parish hall prior to the 10am service.
Commitment Sunday
This Sunday , St. Andrew's Day, is also Commitment Sunday. Today we ask parishioners to return their financial pledges for 2018. Please place your pledge card in the plate at the time of the offering. There are additional pledge cards in the pews. Alternatively you can make a pledge online on the website. The theme of our Stewardship campaign this year is Stepping up in Faith. It reflects our hope that parishioners will faithfully step up their pledges in order to broaden our pledging base and: reduce our dependence on an annual draw from our endowment; maintain our staffing levels; expand our digital presence; fund the 5pm informal service; and increase our outreach. Please be as generous as you can. Thank you!
Online Giving Available
Electronic giving is offered on our website under the give tab to make pledge payments and special contributions. You may use your checking account, savings account, or credit card to make payments. Creating a profile only takes a moment, and you will be able to make changes to your donations and view and print your online donation history. We hope you will take advantage of this convenience.
Confirmation Prep & Youth Group
Confirmation prep and youth group will next meet on Sunday, November 19. Confirmation prep meets from 5 to 6:30pm, and high school youth group from 6:45 to 8pm. All youth are welcome.

Thanksgiving Dinners
We are putting together Thanksgiving dinners for St. Stephen's this Sunday, November 19 and will need a few people to help fill the bags in the parish hall after the 10am service. We could also use one or two extra cars to deliver the bags to St. Stephen's after they are filled.
Wellesley Turkey Trot
More than 70 members of St. Andrew's will be running the Wellesley Turkey Trot 5K on Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 23 at 8am. The race is sold out, but come cheer on our runners and hand out water at the St. Andrew's table across from the church. Coffee, hot chocolate and treats will be provided!
No Parking Section of Denton Road
Help us keep good relations with our neighbors: Please do not park in the part of Denton Road that has its entrance nearest to the town center. Neighbors have been in touch with us about cars parked for church on Sunday making entrance and egress from their driveways very challenging. Please park along Washington Street or in the local parking lots. Thank you for your cooperation.
9am Christian Learning
Join us in Room 2 today and November 26 when we reflect on 95 Theses Tacked To A Door, and the Protestant Reformation. Using Martin Marty's new book, October 31, 1517: Martin Luther and the Day That Changed the World, we will consider the changes to Christianity begun 500 years ago by monk and scholar Martin Luther.
NO Church School for Grades K-5
There will be no church school on Sunday, November 26. Sleep in and come to the 5pm Thanksgiving service instead!
Thanksgiving Children's Service and Potluck

A main dish will be provided; bring an appetizer or dessert to share. While this service will emphasize children's participation, all ages are welcome.

All are welcome.
Socks, Socks, Socks!
Once again, I request socks-new, white men's cotton crew socks, size L or XL. Please help make a difference to this vital ministry. You may do this by 1. Placing socks in the sox box located outside the library or 2. Sending a check for any amount with "sox" in the memo which will be included in your church statement. I'll purchase the socks. Thank you for your continuing generosity.
Our Annual Coats for Kids (and Adults too) Collection
This collection will continue through December 31. In these hard economic times there are thousands of individuals in our very own community that are without a warm winter coat. Gently used warm coats of all sizes-infant through adult XXL-are accepted. Donated coats will be cleaned free of charge by Anton's Cleaners. Please check your closets and drop your unwanted coats in the collection box in the office corridor.
Mitten Tree
The St. Andrew's mitten tree will be erected in the parish hall after Thanksgiving. This is a long-standing outreach ministry. Please bring new hats, gloves, and mittens for those in need this winter.
Advent Lessons and Carols
Please join us for our Advent Lessons & Carols service, Sunday, December 10 at 5pm. It is a time to contemplate the great mystery of the season we have entered into, a time to still our busy minds and bodies as we listen to Bible readings and anthems of hope and faith in a candlelight service. There will be a reception immediately following. Come and bring your friends and neighbors
Music Committee at St. Andrew's
We have formed a Music Committee at St. Andrew's that consists of Wendy Barry,
Peter Lull, Karen Pekowitz, Cynthia Scott, Barbara Shellito, Beth Thomas, and Margaret Zusky. We meet about four times a year. The purpose of this committee is to give Adrian and me feedback on our music program. I am always open to new ideas and concerns. Please come to me or email me at any time and use these members if you are not able to speak to me directly. Many thanks to the committee for giving of their time and talents in support of the music here at St. Andrew's.

The amount of your contribution is at your discretion. Extra forms are in the narthex. You also may leave the form with your names and contribution in the "Flower Memorial" box in the mail room, or with your weekly offering in the plate. Thank you.
Blue Christmas Service
Sometimes Advent and Christmas are full of joy and soulful satisfaction; in other years, we find ourselves in the midst of loss, disappointment, or illness. If you, or someone you care about, has had a hard year, and you are longing to make room for the Spirit of God in a time of struggle or loss, please join us on Wednesday, December 13 from 6:30pm to 7:15pm. We will gather with gentle silence, hear Holy Scripture, and share an opportunity for each of us to silently light a candle and kindle a prayer or a hope for the year that is past, and the year ahead. We will rest in the promise of Christ, remembering that even in times of sorrow, God's love and grace can find us and support us. This service will be held in the Children's Chapel. All are welcome.
Book Circle
Book Circle (formerly Reading Mavens) is open to all and we hold meetings on Monday nights at 7pm in the Harvey Room. No need to sign up, just come and join the discussion, we would love to see you

Illness and Off-Hour Emergencies
The clergy are always available to assist you. Please email Adrian or call him at 603-831-4938 if you or a member of your family expects to be in the hospital and wishes to be visited. Also, please let us know of names that should be added to our prayer list. Our prayers are with all those in need.
Parish Photo Release
We recognize that safety and privacy are of primary concern to members of our congregation. After researching best practices and reaching out to our national church, the communications committee developed the following in the fall of 2013:
  • A policy not to identify anyone by name in website photos,
  • a policy to ask permission via phone or e-mail to use photos of individuals prominently featured in photos (though unidentified) on the website, and
  • photo release language to be published in The CALL, service leaflets, and annual report.
  • This language is as follows:
Occasionally, we may take photographs or videos of St. Andrew's-related activities. By appearing at and/or participating in any such activities, you are aware that you may appear in such pictures and agree to let us use such images in related communications (including print and web usage), and you agree to release St. Andrew's from any liability, damages, or claims whatsoever that might arise from such use. This notice also applies to any members of your family appearing and/or participating in such church activities. Our policy is that we will not identify anyone by name on website photos.
