That's what you call yourselves, right? Ellensburgers?

Well, this is Ellensburg Castle (or Craig's Castle, depending whom you ask). It was originally built to be the governor's mansion before Ellensburg lost its bid for state capital. The beautiful structure still stands today.

On Friday, October 27, Southwest Regional Archivist Tracy Rebstock hosted four spooky tours of the Olympia Archives Building underground stacks. There were brilliant characters, great stories, and lots of screams! If you missed it this year, watch for it again next year. We are making this an annual event!
Central Regional Archivist Brigid Clift partnered with Central Washington University, the James E. Brooks Library, Ellensburg Public Library, and the Kittitas County Historical Museum to put on the third annual Ellensburg Archives and Museum Crawl. It was an amazing, historical, three-hour tour, held on Saturday, October 7.
Northwest Regional Archivist Janette Gomes teamed with Western Libraries' Heritage Resources to host Strange Washington Trivia Night in Bellingham. History Happy Hour in Olympia will be at
3 Magnets Brewing Co., at its rescheduled time: Thursday, Nov. 16, at 7:00 pm. Just show up! Admission is free.
Watch Tales of Strange Washington
The Olympia Archives put on Tales of Strange Washington on Saturday, October 7. Some great speakers illustrated the strange history of Washington, with talks about some of the infamous individuals and incidents to spawn in our home state. The event was aired on TVW and you can watch the entire presentation here .
Original paintings from the 1930s through the 1950s.

The show features over 50 original artworks created for the Olympia Brewing Company. Renowned artist and critic, Art Chantry, has contributed insight to the exhibit.

The State Archives helped scan some of the large images. They are truly fascinating, beautiful pieces.
