Heart of Women's Health Presenters Call for New Focus on Leading Cause of Death

Heart of Women's Health Luncheon by the Numbers: 1 out of 3 women (and men) die from heart disease in the U.S. 1 of 31 women die from breast cancer. 175 people, who attended the luncheon, were challenged to help raise awareness of heart disease to match the level of awareness surrounding breast cancer.

Sweitzer, MD, PhD, director of the UA Sarver Heart Center, moderated the program and provided an update on Sarver Heart Center.

Congratulations to Dr. Gordon Ewy, director emeritus of Sarver Heart Center, professor emeritus of the UA College of Medicine - Tucson, and founder of the Sarver Heart Center Women's Heart Health Education Committee, who received the Mary Anne Fay Women's Heart Health Advocate Award. Dr. Ewy to Give Founders Day Lecture,
Nov. 17
In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the UA College of Medicine - Tucson, Dr. Gordon Ewy will share memories of the early days of the medical school and the hospital. He will reflect on some of the decisions that the initial faculty had to make and early cooperation between hospital and the medical school faculty.
