Kathy Jacoby and Mark Thompson Join DDCO Leadership Team

Delta Dental of Colorado recently promoted two directors to new roles and welcomed them to the senior leadership team.

Kathy Jacoby will serve as vice president of marketing and member experience.  Jacoby, who joined Delta Dental in 2012, previously served as director of marketing.  Mark Thompson will serve as vice president of sales and client retention. Thompson, who joined Delta Dental in 2007, previously served as director of sales and client services.

"They have both contributed significantly to the success of our company and are central to our focus on customer experience - with our members, providers, groups and brokers."  The promotions support our long-term strategic efforts around customer focus and innovation.

Jacoby and Thompson join the senior leadership team that includes:
  • Allison Cusick, executive director of Delta Dental of Colorado Foundation and community benefit
  • Dave Gerbus, JD, chief administrative officer and general counsel
  • Dr. Cheryl Lerner, chief clinical officer
  • Greg Vochis, chief financial officer
These changes took effect Oct. 23.


Delta Dental Joins Healthcare Innovation Center Catalyst HTI
Delta Dental of Colorado will open a health innovation center at the Catalyst Health-Tech Innovation (HTI) development in Denver's River North district . The development, a healthcare industry integrator, will be the first of its kind in the nation.

Delta Dental will lease 2,000 square feet on the second floor. We plan to use the space as a center for collaboration and innovation, working alongside startups and larger companies within Catalyst HTI and inviting in entrepreneurs to develop and test new concepts.

" The oral healthcare industry is seeing the development of exciting new, innovative technologies
that have the potential to significantly, if not 
dramatically, improve patient outcomes and care,"
said Helen Drexler, president and CEO of Delta  Dental of Colorado. "As the state's leading dental benefits provider, it is imperative that we ' re at the forefront of these efforts and on the leading edge of developing the future of oral healthcare." 

Catalyst HTI is an "industry integrator" bringing together a full spectrum of stakeholders in healthcare. Startups will have access to potential clients and investors in established companies, while larger corporations can surround themselves with emerging technologies in an environment filled with entrepreneurs and growth companies. The project is being jointly developed by Koelbel and Company, health-tech entrepreneur Mike Biselli and the landowners.

DDPA Receives CSO50 Award for Cyber Risk Program Innovation
The Delta Dental Plans Association (DDPA) was selected as one of the 2017 CSO50 Award recipients from the well-regarded technology media company IDG. The selection was based on the innovative approach DDPA has taken in developing a cyber risk program that connects business value with risk reduction throughout 2017 and beyond.

The CSO50 Award is presented to the top 50 projects/initiatives that exhibit innovation, business value, and result in improving the security and risk posture of their organization. Working with judges including security experts, academics, and chief security officers (CSOs), the CSO editorial team selects the 50 honorees. DDPA, and the other award recipients, were selected from more than 200 nominees. Other winners this year include Aetna, American Express, Allstate, GE Aviation, Xerox, and Fannie Mae.

Consumers sign up for Obamacare 2018 individual plans despite uncertainty

CMS overhaul of Medicaid may face legal challenges
