Character Fund donations continue to support existing school programs by allowing these unrestricted funds to provide real savings for our young men and their families. Your contribution will also allow Saint Stanislaus to implement campaigns to better our campus (such as the Green Campaign project and the creation of the Stanislaus Technology Endowment), our academics (ACT preparedness classes), and new clubs and extracurricular activities like coding, computer science and lacrosse.

The 2017 Alumni Reunion is approaching
Mark your calendars - the Saint Stanislaus Alumni Reunion will take place January 27. This year's reunion will honor the classes of 1968 and 1993. For more information, check out the Alumni Reunion invitation.

Saint Stanislaus and the Patrick F. Taylor Foundation partner for the 'Arches to Success' program
The Patrick F. Taylor Foundation recently awarded a grant to Saint Stanislaus to fund a program that will allow a select group of 7
th
or 8
th
grade students to attend Saint Stanislaus as boarding students next fall.
Talks of this idea began at last year's benefit dinner in New Orleans with Brother Barry Landry and Brian Murphy of Saint Stanislaus and Mrs. Phyllis Taylor.
Details of the partnership include an "ambassador" program whereby members of the Saint Stanislaus community will mentor and enhance the lives of these young boys through their graduation in 2023.
Saint Stanislaus is honored and humbled by the support of Mrs. Taylor and the foundation her late husband founded in 1985.
The vision of the Patrick F. Taylor Foundation supports the concept that it is better to teach a person to care for oneself, rather than to give the person a handout. It is apparent that for many the ability to achieve full potential is out of reach. Financial and other constraints create barriers not easily overcome. The Foundation's work is to respond to this need by providing the means by which it can be most effective.

Rock-a-Chaws attend the
Mississippi Restoration Summit
|
Saint Stanislaus's marine science students attended the Mississippi Restoration Summit for an unbelievable opportunity to learn more about efforts to protect and preserve coastal habitats.
Saint Stanislaus was personally invited to the Mississippi Restoration Summit by the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality. They also hosted the event.
The school received the
invitation based upon its students' participation in the MDEQ Beach Outfalls Challenge last year.
Throughout the summit, students received personal attention. The day was set up with hands-on activities, just for them. The Pascagoula River Audubon Center hosted the tidal marsh accretion/erosion component, DMR hosted the oyster biology station and the Nature Conservancy hosted the amphibians and reptiles station.
The entire day was full of personal attention, excitement and learning for the students and the adults.

Athletics Update
The Football Rocks finished the season 6-6 after reaching the second round of the playoffs.
Cross Country
The Cross Country Rocks finished 3rd in the 4A State Meet in November. Extra props go to team captain Landry Lemoine for his second All-State honor.
Sailing
St. Stanislaus won its third consecutive Mississippi High School Fleet Race Championship at the Gulfport Yacht Club.
The Rock-a-chaws also won the Gulf Coast High School Sailing Championship.

John A. Klein, Sr., Class of '49
John Alexander Klein, Sr., 86, of Bay St. Louis, passed away Nov. 13 at his residence.
Klein was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Lakeshore. He was a residential electrician for over 20 years working for Wilcox Electric in Waveland. He was a commerical drywall installer for Boudreaux Drywall in New Orleans until retirement.
He is survived by two children: John A. Klein, Jr. and Cindy Ladner.
Henry C. Lang, Sr., Class of '58
Henry Christian Lang Sr., 92, died April 15 in Bay St. Louis.
Lang was a native and lifelong resident of Bay St. Louis. He retired from Jitney Jungle as market manager after over 25 years of service. He was a member of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church where he was a member of the Usher Society. He was also a fourth-degree Knights of Columbus with the Knights of Columbus Pere De Luc Council No. 1522 in Bay St. Louis.
Survivors include three sons, Henry C. Lang Jr. of Gulf Breeze, Fla., Michael J. Lang of Clermont Harbor and Alan J. Lang of Mobile; two daughters, Joy Lee Lang Cochrane of Franklin, Ala., and Joanne Lang Cassidy of Powell, Wyo., 17 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
Quinten R. Barrios, Class of '14
Quinten Ross Barrios passed away on Nov. 5 at age 22. He is survived by his mother and step-father, Marie and John Crews, his sister, Megan Barrios, and his father, Ross Barrios.
Quinten was a native of St. Charles Parish and later graduated from Saint Stanislaus. He loved the arts, especially choir and theater. Quinten was blessed with an extraordinary mind. As a gifted poet and creative writer, he used writing and music to share his soul with the world. Quinten worked in the hospitality industry in New Orleans, and most recently was pursuing a license in massage therapy.
Quinten loved people and judged no one. His unspoken motto was "live and let live." Quinten loved to make others laugh. One of his greatest gifts was helping others see their own value. Quinten was adored by family and friends; he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Stan Jones, Class of '66
Stan Jones, 68, passed away Nov. 7. He was born to Gilbert and Emma Lee Jones in Jacksonville, Fla. As part of a Navy family, he lived in Pensacola, Chicago, and Hawaii as a child and eventually grew up in Pensacola. He came to Houston in the late '60s and began a career as a programmer and systems analyst.
His favorite pastimes were fishing, listening to music and astronomy. He is a former member of the Houston Astronomical Society. He is also a longtime member of St. Rose de Lima Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Angie Jones; son, Stephen Jones; daughter, Sabrina O'Kane; grandsons, Caden and Soren; granddaughters, Sabrina and Jemma, and numerous relatives and friends
Justin P. LeVasseur, Alumni Associate
Dr. LeVasseur was born Sept. 7, 1934, in New Orleans, La., to Edward Paul LeVasseur and Lila Schrock LeVasseur. He attended high school in Ocean Springs, Miss. Upon graduation, he entered Louisiana State University where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree. He graduated from Louisiana State University Medical School in 1961.
Dr. LeVasseur married Joan Arceneaux on December 26, 1960, in Lafayette, La. After their marriage, he served as a captain in the United States Army from 1962 to 1964. Dr. LeVasseur completed a residency in radiology in Jackson, Miss., from 1968 to 1971. In 1978, Dr. LeVasseur and his family moved to Wichita Falls where he joined Radiology Associates and eventually ran the Wichita General Oncology Center for 21 years, retiring in 1999.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joan, whom he met while attending LSU Medical School; his son Matthew and wife Karen of Wichita Falls; his son Luke and wife Kathryn of McLean, Va.; and his son Mark of Glorieta, N.M.
