RESOURCES YOU CAN USE
2017-2018 Diocesan Cycle of Prayer

You can get the Cycle of Diocesan Prayer, updated for 1 Advent 2017 through Christ the King 2018, here. Individuals and churches can use this cycle of prayer to remember all the congregations and ministries of our diocese in their own prayers throughout the year.  Churches are generally remembered on the Sunday closest to their feast of title.
Online Advent resources

Just a few of the many available....

Loyola Press's online Advent calendar for adults

Passport's d365.org invites us to Follow the Star.

Rather than the Elf on the Shelf, have your children follow the journey of the Wandering Wisemen. You can just look at their location every day on Facebook, or use the Facebook page as your inspiration to launch your own Magi figurines on a journey through your house.
Resources to help publicize enrollment period for ACA health insurance
A Los Angeles graphic design firm is offering a set of free downloadable advertisements that any congregation or organization can use to publicize the shortened enrollment period for health insurance provided under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). You can find the graphics designs here and download them for use in your congregation.

MINISTRY HIGHLIGHTS
Bishop Knisely spring 2017
Bishop Knisely's Convention address

Bishop Knisely has shared the video of his address at Diocesan Convention on his blog. In a time of division in our country, he emphasized the transformative power of Jesus's parables and encouraged us to share them with others. "We can remain a community by keeping our full attention on Jesus."
Episcopal Church Women name 2017 Distinguished Woman

The Episcopal Church Women (ECW) of the diocese presented their 2017 Distinguished Woman Award to Susan Heuke Allen from St. Martin's Church, Providence.

Susan is a longtime member of St. Martin's, Providence, where she raised her four children, and is a current vestry member. She is an archeologist and author of two books, working on a third book to be published in the near future. She coordinated and helped revive the Women's Spirituality Group at church, with over 100 members. This group has become an important mechanism for reaching out beyond the immediate boundaries of the parish into the wider community.

Susan is a tireless community activist and current president of the Providence Review club. She advocates for social justice, frequently lobbying legislators on behalf of the poor, disabled, women and the LGBTQ community. Her Christian faith is applied to the wider areas of social concern and civic engagement.

Susan will be honored along with other 2017 Distinguished Woman Award recipients from each diocese in the United States at the Triennial Meeting of the ECW during the 79th General Convention of the Episcopal Church next July in Austin, Texas.

The next meeting of the diocesan ECW will be held on November 27 at 10 a.m. at Diocesan House at 275 North Main St., Providence. To get involved, please join us and see the work the diocesan ECW does on your behalf.
