Dear PetConnect Rescue Family,

In this season of gratitude, I would like to take a moment to thank all of you for being a part of this wonderful animal rescue organization. It is clear that you join me in caring about abandoned cats and dogs and choose to help make life brighter for so many of them. When the pleas for help go out, you respond. The need is always there, whether it be for fosters, transporters, pet supplies, help at events... the list goes on and on. I want to let you know just how much you are appreciated, and together, we are making a difference.

At PetConnect Rescue, Giving = Living.

Join the global movement created to counteract the commercialism surrounding the holidays by shifting attention to charitable giving. #GivingTuesday officially kicks off the charitable season.

Interested in helping? Here are some ways to help...

1. On November 28th, share our important work with your friends, family and social network on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram using the hashtag #GivingTuesday.

What does PCR mean to you? Did you adopt your cat or dog from us? Post a picture. Have a compelling animal story about your beloved pet? Post it! We love seeing pictures of our success stories.

2. On November 28th, click here to make your Giving Tuesday donation.

This year, be a hero to animals like Stewart and Biggles

who are depending on your generosity.

Here's What's Happening...

Holiday Supply Drive

Each year, PetConnect Rescue holds a supply drive to help sustain us through the winter months. We are looking for volunteers to make large donation boxes, arrange for placement of them, and manage those donations. And, of course, we need people to donate! This is a great way to involve the whole family and the community.

Here's what we need most:

Donated (not loaned) Medium & Large Wire Dog Crates
New or gently used cat and dog beds
Sheets (can be used)
Bath & Beach Towels (can be used)
Stainless Steel Food Bowls
Dog & Cat Food (meat as 1st ingredient)
Wet Canned Kitten and Cat Food (Royal Canin and Proplan preferred)
Litter (clumping and non-clumping)
Cleaning Supplies: trash bags, bleach, paper towels, dog poop bags, Clorox wipes, sponges, hand brooms/dust pans, litter scoopers, mops, mop buckets, and push brooms
Leashes (all size- flat)
Martingale Colors (all sizes)

Where: Lilly Pulitzer store in Westfield Montgomery Mall

When: 11 am - 2 pm

What: Adoptable cats and kittens will be there to show off

their adorable selves just in time for the holidays.

PetConnect Rescue will receive 10% of the sales

generated during the event time.

Home for the Paw-lidays Adoption + Shop & Share Event

Where: Tommy Bahama store in Westfield Montgomery Mall

When: 11 am - 1 pm

What: Adoptable dogs and puppies will be there ready to give kisses.

PetConnect Rescue and Botanero Restaurant teamed up to make Mutt-garitas?

That's right. PetConnect Rescue founder, Lizette Chanock, tied on her apron and got to work Monday, November 6th, making a drink of her own creation, Mutt-garitas.

Interested in making your own Mutt-garita? Enjoy this seasonal concoction.

1 1/2 cups cranberry juice

3/4 cup fresh lime juice

3/4 cup tequila

1/2 cup orange-flavored liqueur, such as Cointreau or Triple Sec

ice cubes

Stir all ingredients together until blended. Serve over ice in sugar- or salt-rimmed glasses, garnished with fresh cranberries and lime wedges, if desired.

Did you know that November is Adopt a Senior Dog Month?

Meet Lefty. Poor Lefty was once loved and a family cared for him. Once, he was well-fed and groomed. Once, someone took the time to house train him and show him how much fun it was to walk on a leash. Once, someone paid a lot of money to have his teeth cleaned and repaired. So, how is it that one day, Lefty was found in a crate, on sale for $75, at a neighborhood Flea Market?

Luckily for him, one of PetConnect Rescue's

shelter partners was at the Flea Market that day. They saw Lefty and starting counting the money in their purses. No way were they going to leave him there. Thankfully, they were able to take this little man home from the flea market. Eventually, he found his way into PetConnect Rescue's new senior dog program, where we welcomed Lefty with open arms. PetConnect Rescue is specially equipped to handle older gents just like Lefty. We're so glad that he's here and can't wait to find Lefty a real forever home.

$75 for this gem? Those silly people.. little did they know that Lefty is priceless!
