This Sunday at Christ Church
Faith & Practice

Come learn about our new Peer Ministry program for our 7-12th graders at Faith & Practice. Here's what   Chad Senuta, Associate for Youth and Campus Ministry, from the Episcopal Diocese of Chicago, has to say about it:

"What I love about Peer Ministry is that it's so much more than just a resource or curriculum.  Peer Ministry produces leaders that embody the Good Samaritan story and follow Jesus' example of ministering to those in need every day, everywhere, and in every relationship."

Diane Krieman, Laura Sniader, and Emily Baillos will share more about the program and lead you through a few exercises to help experience the learning firsthand. Jen Baker is also on the Adult team.

THE FUTURE WE SHAPE
2018 Annual Giving

Currently we have 126 families pledging $676,000. We are 61% of the way to our goal of $1.1 million for 2018.

If you would like to print out a pledge form click Pledge Form 2018.pdf or pledge online. Thank you for your continued support of the mission of Christ Church.

More importantly for us, they accept volunteers as young as 5 when accompanied by an adult.  This means that for families with small children, this can be an event that everyone can participate in together.
A Just Harvest
It's a rewarding and satisfying experience that will leave you wit h a sense of peace and gratitude - give it a try! We encourage all pari shioners - young and old - to get involved in this worthwhile and meaningful outreach.

Why We Sing What We Sing When We Sing
Richard will take us through the beginnings of liturgical music from before the time of Jesus through the modern day. Learn what we have adapted from the Temple in Jerusalem to the place of Gregorian Chant to ancient and modern Hymnody. It's no accident that we sing the hymns we do.

Christmas Pageant Sign-Up!
All children and youth are invited to join us for our Christmas Pageant, "The Nativity of Christ," to be performed Dec. 17 at the 9:30 service. Our beautiful and low-stress pageant requires no memorizing of lines, only one rehearsal for the older children, and no rehearsal at all for ages three through 2nd grade. We have roles to suit everyone: Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus, angels, shepherds, sheep, and friendly beasts. Plus narrators, scene directors, and behind the scenes helpers. Costumes provided. Please sign up on our website or send an email with requested roles to [email protected].

Vestry Nominating Committee Receiving Names-Deadline is Dec. 1
Our parish by-laws require the Rector to appoint a committee of four retiring Vestry members and at least five other parish members to the parish Nominating Committee. They are to nominate a slate of four people for an upcoming Vestry term of three years each. This year we have an additional nomination to fill a one year unexpired term.  In addition, we need to nominate a Junior Warden for a term of one year to be followed by a year as Senior Warden.  If you have a nomination to make, please send that parish member's name to Office Manager Charlotte McGee.  Nominees must be 16 or older. Parish nominations close   Friday, December 1. The committee meets on Sunday, December 3.

Wrap & Roll Caroling Party

December 10 - 4:00-7:30

It's (almost) that time of year! Mark your calendars and call your family and friends-the caroling party is around the corner. Thrown by the youth and parents of our congregation, we will wrap presents for the homeless, eat dinner (and Christmas cookies!) together, sing carols, and get a visit from Christopher-I mean St. Nicholas! It's a great time to celebrate with your church family and introduce your friends and relatives to our church community. There's a recommended donation of $15/person and $30 total per family, but no need to RSVP. The more the merrier, so save the date!
