November's Newsletter
Thanksgiving Event
Family Art Night and Dinner

The staff was thrilled to host our school family for a Thanksgiving Dinner. Families were invited to come and share in food, fun, and laughter.

Miss Anderson outdid herself with this engaging project that connected science, engineering, art, and most important, family!  We are so thankful for our students, parents, and staff. Our building is truly blessed!
Concept School's Spelling Bee

Ms. Johnson took a group of very strong spellers to Chicago this month. The girls were excited to be part of Concept School's annual spelling bee.

Although none of our students took home the big prize, they had an amazing time and practiced spelling some Brobdingnagian words!!!!

Veteran's Day Program

Ms. Garcia and Mr. Takacs organized a wonderful Veteran's Day program to give thanks to our local Veteran's. We had distinguished guests from several branches of the military, and the students performed and listened to them share their stories. Our own Mr. Takacs, Mr. Strick, and Mr. LaTorre were among those honored.
Internet Safety Presentation

We had the privilege to have Lexi Giering provide our 6th through 8th graders a very detailed and informative presentation about the Ohio

Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce, and why it is imperative that they make safe choices when using the internet . Ms. Giering's  presentation was amazing.  She kept our student engaged and alert.

CYSP Visits the Cavs!

Some of our CYSP boys enjoyed a trip to the Cavs game in November.

They had a fantastic night, and if you want to see a fun video, check out our own, Marlon Smith, in a dance challenge on our Facebook
page.
Playhouse Square's "Kicked"

Cleveland Playhouse Square's touring company came for a visit and brought their "Kicked" program to share with our students.

In this presentation,  Diondre and Karen are best friends and teammates on their middle school soccer team. But as others begin to bully them, Diondre and Karen struggle to remain friends and do what they love to do: play soccer.

Companion Arts-Integrated workshops will use theatre techniques to help students understand and address the various types of bullying.

Thanking Our Parents

The teachers and admin wanted to thank our parents who are working hard to get their children to our doors safely and on time.

To honor and thank our parents, we shared coffee and donuts with them as they dropped their students off for school on November 10th.

Attendance is so important to student success. Encourage your student to be here and on time every day.

Fun in the Classroom!

Learning is important, but having fun while we are learning, well that is a prerequisite for a successful school day! Our students have some pretty amazing teachers who go the extra mile to encourage them to stretch and grow everyday with exciting, and even laughable, lessons! Go to our Facebook page to find a short video of the balloon race below!

Students of the Month Movie Day
Kindergarten-4th grades

To celebrate positive behavior choices and students of the month for September and October, we had a special movie day for the little ones in November.

Mr. Akben surprised them with ice cream treats and a special showing of "Sing!"
Students of the Month Bowling
5th through 8th Grades

To reward students who have had great behavior in September and October, we took them bowling.

We had a great time, and Mr. Akben surprised the students with some yummy treats after some very competitive bowling.

Parent/Teacher Conferences

Each quarter, for progress reports, we have a parent/teacher conference night. These conferences allow teachers to share information about your child's behavior, attitude, and progress in their classroom. We encourage every parent to attend a minimum of two conferences this school year to ensure that your child's educational needs are being met.
