Today, we had the privilege of hosting our second Rising Star Student of the Month breakfast where seven high school seniors were honored by their school principal, teacher and parents. Elected officials also presented certificates of achievement to each of the students.
Though this event is meant to honor students, everyone in attendance walks away feeling inspired and blessed. We heard from a Dragon Slayer, Change Maker, Challenge Embracer, Life Lover, Connection Innovator, Knowledge Giver and Dream Follower. Each student spoke with passion and demonstrated compassion for their fellow human being.
Many lessons were learned. I am sharing with you the four that inspired me today:
·        It is not how you start, but how you finish.
·        Friends are the people who build you up, help you grow up, and make life better. Choose wisely.
·        Everyone has a story to tell...a journey that is unique with hidden struggles.
·        Tell your sibling that you love them...it will mean the world to them.
This event also demonstrates the love of learning our educators have. However, they pour more than knowledge into each student. They are truly life changing instruments for many of our students, preparing them for success beyond the high school years.

Escondido Police to Host
20th Annual Children's Christmas Party

Every year since 1998, the Escondido Police Department has hosted an annual Christmas party to give kids who have been the victims of abuse, neglect, and violent crime a Christmas they might not otherwise get to experience. This year the party will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2017. The event will include food, a magic show, face painting, a visit with Santa Claus, and every child in attendance will receive gifts. We are asking for the community's help to make this Christmas a little bit brighter for these kids by donating a new, unwrapped toy for a boy or girl ages newborn to 18 years old.

Drop off locations are:
