Winnie's Corner

Winnie
Meow...

We're off to the cat show!

I get to strut my stuff in front of my catty peers in the "Household Pet" category. Maybe I will win a ribbon this year?

I know I will get lots of extra attention by the humans attending the show!

And, as usual, my person gave me a special bath (oh, the indignity) just before we left plus lots of extra combing and hair puffing to make sure I look my best. Last year the judges used a beautiful, twirly, frizzy toy to help me concentrate and show off my exceptionally playful personality. I hope they do the same this year.

I met lots of new friends, both during the activity and while waiting for my turn with the judges last year. The lovely Australian Mist in the cage next door had lots to tell me about her background and heritage. On the other side, a former "best of show" Birman, while getting her beauty rest, had a great story about her busy show experiences.

Memo to cat owners:

This month is Senior Pet Health Month.Remember senior cats have specific health needs and make wonderful members of the family.

Quote of the Month

A cat has absolute emotional honesty: human beings, for one reason or another, may hide their feelings,
 but a cat does not.

The FIP Story Continues

Winn Feline Foundation continues our support for FIP research and sharing of information about this devastating illness in cats.

Winn sponsored Dr. Niels Pedersen's presentation during the October conference of the American Association of Feline Practitioners in Denver (Winn's presentation notes below).

Too many cats are lost to this disease,  feline infectious peritonitis, and too few people know of the impact it can have on a beloved cat companion.

You can read about FIP in some of these recent informative pieces:

We can win and  #EndFIP with your help. And also provide
#Cures4Cats with chronic or potentially fatal diseases.

More on the impact of chronic disease management for pets by their caregivers...

People and pets affected with a chronic illness or medical condition generally require day to day attention to ensure their well being and adherence to monitoring or treatment recommendations. This oversight often becomes the responsibility of a caregiver or their family.

Planned Giving Tip for November

In recent years the Tuesday following Thanksgiving has unofficially become "Giving Tuesday".  After the more commercial shopping events such as "Black Friday" and "Cyber Monday" it helps focus attention on charitable giving during the holiday season.

This year Giving Tuesday will be on November 28, 2017.
If your holiday season includes charitable giving, please consider the Winn Feline Foundation.  Winn has funded over $6 million in health research for cats at more than 30 partner institutions worldwide.

As a 501(c)(3) organization, donations to Winn are fully tax deductible.
