Reflections for Worship ...

Faith and Moving Cheese
Matthew 25:13-20

Nearly 20 years ago a doctor named Spencer Johnson wrote a book on coping with change constructively entitled Who Moved My Cheese - and the book became a number one bestseller and part of the vernacular in organizational management. Since we are facing change as a congregation, what might this book say to us about our faith and how to remain faithful during change - whether it is welcome change or somehow against our will? In a sermon entitled Faith and Moving Cheese we will consider together how our faith can sustain us in the changes and moves that we all face in our lives. Come join us for worship this Sunday in the Chapel at 10AM and stay after worship for our Thanksgiving Luncheon in the parlors at noon!

--- Rev. John H Pomeroy

FCC ANNUAL
THANKSGIVING CELEBRATION

November 19th
11:45 Church Parlors

Thanks for RSVP'ing for the Feast. A special thanks to Coordinator Extraordinaire Roberta White for all her work coordinating and overseeing the Feast!!! She has many helpers to make this another wonderful event. A huge thanks to all who are helping and bringing guests!

For almost fifty years FCC has held a Thanksgiving Feast for our church community. Following our worship service we will have coffee, tea, and lemonade available in the east parlor. Fair Trade Coffee, Tea, and Chocolates will be available for purchase, and Aid Africa, our mission partner, will have items for sale to support their ministry in Uganda.

Connie Washburn has special music planned during worship that day and Judi Tyler will be doing a Thanksgiving craft for the children after the meal.

The event gives everyone a chance to enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal and spend relaxed time together over good food and company. We serve a turkey dinner, with stuffing, gravy, rolls, cranberries and beverages. To complete the meal, please bring a vegetable, salad or dessert to serve 8. Please contact Roberta White for last minutes reservations.

Membership Ministry Meets to Plan Upcoming Events
This Ministry pictured (plus Tara who was unable to meet with us), is planning fantastic events for you and your household this year!!! They just sponsored the Halloween Feast, the CROP picnic and the luncheon to send off Pastor Andy!! They have been busy!! Next up is the Advent Festival and Cookie Swap scheduled for the 1st Sunday in Advent, Dec. 3rd after worship. More details will be forthcoming, but a little preview: a few crafts for kids and adults, a catered lunch, and a cookie swap (YOU bring your special home baked goodies and take home some - wow!!) Great gift giving ideas. All events and programs are designed for you to bring friends and family members and to enjoy some fellowship together. Our goal is to welcome all who come and seek connection with others.
Thanks to Kevin Cordova-Brookey, Kim Story, Lu Burd, Tara Bernard and Pastor Marlene for their work on our behalf.

Stewardship In-Gathering is This!

Each year we ask all FCC members and friends to fill out a pledge card of support for the work and ministry of our church in the coming year. This year our in-gathering of pledges will take place on Sunday Nov. 19th (our Feast day). You will be hearing witnesses over the next few weeks as a few folks share why they are involved so faithfully in our church community. You should receive a letter and pledge cards (one for your time; another for your talents/finances)  from our Co-Pastors this week. We invite you to bring your pledge cards on Nov. 19th or send them into the church office. Many thanks in advance for those who support our church's ministry with your commitments financially and personally.
