AT&T Foundry Highlights

Penn State CHOT site director, Dr. Conrad Tucker visited AT&T foundry in Houston with two graduate students, Sakthi Kumar Arul Prakash and Sunghoon Lim. AT&T foundry is AT&T’s venture into the start-up space with their Houston based infrastructure looking to develop home healthcare products.

Dr. Tucker presented an overview of CHOT projects being researched at Penn State followed by 4th year PhD student Sunghoon Lim presenting the  Real Time Social Network Map  to the AT&T Foundry and discussing how the AT&T Foundry's research and technology can be applied to this work. Sakthi Kumar Arul Prakash, 2nd year Master’s student presented his research titled, Dynamic Heart Rate Measurement Using Facial Key point Data . Penn State CHOT and members of the AT&T Foundry look forward to expanding their collaborative efforts.

CHOT IAB Fall Meeting

The annual fall CHOT IAB conference was held in Birmingham, Alabama on Tuesday, October 24, hosted by the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Penn State CHOT site director Dr. Conrad Tucker along with graduate students Sunghoon Lim and Sakthi Kumar Arul Prakash attended the conference. The highlight, however, was Sakthi's poster/demo that won the 1st place in the poster presentation competition.

‌ Sakthi with his research work: Dynamic Heart Rate Measurement Using Facial Key point Data, demonstrates the ability to dynamically capture heat rate using video data alone.

Sunghoon presented the Real Time Social Network Map, visualizing from population health to personalized medicine by using real-time social media messages.

Screenomics Project

Penn State CHOT site CO-Principal, Dr. Nilam Ram traveled to Minneapolis, Minnesota to participate in the Society of Multivariate Experimental Psychology Annual Meeting, where he proposed the study of screenomics - as way to study behavioral processes as they occur in real life.

He also presented at Penn State's Micro-biome Center, discussing with researchers the parallels between analysis of the screenome and the micro-biome. Based on those discussions the project is developing a more refined analysis pipeline with additional features.
