Celebrate Independence

Independence Day takes on new meaning here as people learn to live life to the fullest without relying on vision. Debra Celiz was so upset when she learned she was losing her vision that she missed her high school reunion. But at the next reunion, she walked in, proudly wearing high heels.

Sierra Health Gives $15K

Thank you to Sierra Health Foundation for its generous grant of $15,000 to fund increased access to our Low Vision Clinic services and blindness skills training in Butte, Glenn, Shasta, Sutter, Tehama and Trinity counties. Sierra Health is an independent foundation committed to supporting health-related activities in Northern California.

VW Fans Raise Funds

A big thank you to Brandon Knutson and  Shasta LaBonte for creating the Dubvision car show fundraiser that benefited Society for the Blind. Brandon has diabetic retinopathy and wanted to give back by giving VW enthusiasts the chance to support people with vision loss and promote their love of classic Volkswagens.

Mark Your Calendar: Forever Young Workshop

Our Senior Impact Project's Forever Young workshop on July 26 is a complimentary health and wellness seminar for those ages 55+ experiencing vision loss. From yoga to nutrition, seniors can learn to maximize their health.
