Greetings Cascade Family and Friends,

As we come to the end of our 4 th of July observance and celebrations, I am reminded of just how much we have to thank God for. Though I don't say it often, I will say this now. Despite all of her issues, America is still a great place to live. Admittedly, we have our ongoing struggles, ranging from socio-economic to religious, but we still experience some basic "rights and privileges" that we should never take for granted. We continually see examples and hear stories about other countries where this is not the case. Human rights and human dignity in America didn't just happen. Countless men and women spoke their minds, stood for peace, and risked their lives for equality. Many died for the rights we experience and freedom we enjoy. Because they were steadfast in their beliefs and efforts to change the world, today we can shop, live, worship, and be anywhere we choose without fear of retaliation from governmental or political organizations.

So my friends and family, as we continue to enjoy the spirit of Independence Day, let's be sure to say "Thank You" to those who continue to serve. President Barack Obama recently commented, "Freedom is never free." He is right. Our freedoms come at a cost to those who are sworn to protect them. They make up a very strong and impressive military. We all know someone who serves or has served recently. Let's be sure to convey ourdeep appreciation to those who need to hear it. Let's all also agree to do our part to help protect the "freedoms" we value. God has blessed America and He continues to do so. Let's deliberately express our gratefulness to God and to our active-duty military. Make this a Happy July for all!
